That was why it was expected that Ukyo would be 'taken' from Ranma, as she was as old as he was. They knew that they could be together, and that she'd have to do what he told her to, but those who were 'in charge' also recognized that it was possible that they might fall into a relationship that was convenient, not one that they desired.
So, it wasn't hard for them to send her for training, not that such a fate was unexpected by either of them. After all, her family had been one where a member being a mamluk-yojimbo was expected. They had been warriors born and bred in a time when the fighting arts were slowly shrinking. People, especially the rich and powerful, had needed defenders, and the Kuonji clan had needed a place in the 'new' Japan, so a balance was struck. Her family would be allowed, and accepted, into its ancestral homeland, and the people who could afford them would get skilled slave bodyguards.
Ranma, of course, wasn't one to dwell on such things. All he knew was that he was following his idiot of a father as they went to pick up his mamluk. He didn't need one, but he'd never considered Ukyo as a mere 'protector'. She was someone who he held as being important, and even if she was his property in the eyes of the world at large, she was not something that he'd ever give away.
Still, he had to get to her, and given the way that his father moved if there wasn't something to yell at, or a plate of food at the other end of it, they'd be going for a while. Genma Saotome might know his stuff when it came to actually using the martial arts, but he had never been a really motivated person. And this was not something that he was particularly worried about, so he was only going a bit faster than a normal person would have.
Luckily, they were going, and Ranma hoped that Ukyo would be able to be patient enough to wait a little longer, until they reached her.
He wasn't too sure that he was that patient though, and wondered if kicking his father in the backside would help, while:
