Now he was stalking down the aisle, his shoulders hunched, and his jaw set as he went along.
"Come on, Ichijo," grunted Harada. "Wait up!"
"Then hurry yourselves up. I've got better things to do than to wait for your dumb asses," Ichijo snapped, never turning to look at his companions.
"We're trying...."
"Try harder."
The other boys jogged a little bit to join him, and they each took up places around where he was walking. None of them seemed to be particularly wishing to talk, but then he couldn't blame them. On a regular day, they didn't tend to be whiners, and now they'd just been shown up by Haruka Ten'ou and her tough guy boyfriend. Frustration and anger were what he expected of them, and it pleased him that they were taking it like men.
Not that he couldn't see where they were coming from. That damned blonde had always been something of a thorn in the side of every guy on the motorcross tracks who'd actually wanted tough competition. Sure, there'd always been girls who'd hung around, but they had kept themselves to more... feminine pursuits. It was one thing to have a girl be working as a nurse, but it was quite another thing to have her be a rider who wouldn't think twice about wiggling around you to move closer to first place.
Of course, he had met other female racers before, but they tended to be there for other reasons. He could deal with girls who raced because the rush of being on the track was enough for them. Of if they were the sort who were more focused on the machines, it would be understandable, as those girls treated their bikes like they would a baby, or a prized pet. However, they wouldn't be obnoxious blondes who wouldn't show a little humility when they got a win in a race that really shouldn't have included them in the first place.
"This sucks," drawled one of his boys, crossing his arms behind his head in a mock show of relaxation. "It's one thing for this to happen on the track. But out in a restaurant...."
"You know that she won't let this slide, don't you, Kazuo," muttered a second boy, letting his grey eyes flick towards the first speaker.
"Takeshi, since when hasn't she?"
"Unfortunately... never."
"Exactly. And she'll be pushing this on Ichijo the most."
The named young man gave a small snort of derision. "Let her try. She isn't that tough, and her thug won't always be around. It'd be easy once we're alone together.
"Why, it almost sounds like you are sweet on her...." idly commented another member of his group.
Ichijo stopped and turned slowly to face the other boy. "What was that, Yoshi?"
"I was just saying that you'd sounded like you liked the idea of having a chance to see about seducing her... Eh...."
"Let's get one thing straight. Right now, all I care about it showing that mannish bitch just what her role should be. Nothing more, nothing less."
"Well, I...."
"This isn't up for discussion."
"Oh, okay. Sure. Whatever you say."
"Good," Ichijo grunted, and turned to resume his walk... not that he could blame Yoshi totally for what he said. Haruka really was a hot girl, and would have looked great if she'd always taken care to dress properly, like she had in the restaurant. In fact, when he'd first seen her, she'd been wearing a short sleeved tee, and these tiny shorts that had shown off a pair of impressive legs. He'd thought that she'd come to be some team's 'race queen' or something, not a competitor. She might not have been the bustiest girl around, but she did have the sort of legs that a guy wanted to see in a short skirt as she strode to him, and her ass was the sort that a guy would love to have seated in his lap. But, with the way that she insisted on butting in on where she didn't belong, and thumbed her nose at real competitors, all her beauty was going to waste.
And that attitude of hers really got under his skin. Every time that they crossed paths, she had some sort of smart alec remark, and he couldn't understand just why he hadn't been able to put her in her place. By what he could tell, he should have already shown how his talents surpassed hers, and cowed her into behaving like a proper girl. With this idiot boyfriend of hers in the mix, it was just getting worse and worse.
But he wasn't going to let things stand as they were. There had to be sort of way that he could get them back, and he was certain of that. In no way was he going to be letting himself be caught in a stupid role as a joke to that pair. Somehow, some way, he was going to get back at the happy couple, and he was going to do it as soon as he could come up with a plan.
His mind was already working on a bunch of possibilities, and he was working out what would happen with each one. They might not all be helpful, but he didn't particularly care at the moment. At the moment, he was just working to compare his options to see which one was best. When he'd find that choice, he was going to take it, and use it to humiliate, and teach, Haruka and her little 'boy toy' brute.
