So, it was understandable as to why slaves would be sent to areas far from their original homes. If a slave from the city was sold in a mountainous area, and was brought by an inn, then it wouldn't exactly be the same sort of life that they had lived. They could settle into a new existence where they could have a clear point at where their old life fell into the mists of the past. A mind wipe could be done, but that was considered to be a bit extreme, and was only a possible option when the slave in question would either not be acceptable, or would want to leave behind her past to start with a clean slate.
It wasn't exactly clear as to which one Akane would have fallen under, but he had never bothered to ask. All that he knew was that she was a city girl who had spent plenty of time camping out in the country. That she was a martial artist was a plus, and her strength certainly made her useful in more ways than fighting. Her cooking was merely bad now, as he didn't want to get caught up in being stuck with anything more than indigestion. Still, he didn't pry, and she didn't mention a lot about those she knew.
At least he did find it good that he owned her. With her already interested in the Art, it didn't take much to get her to learn from him. She was strong too, so she could do a lot of the work, and she did have a cute smile. Of course, it wasn't quite like what the locker room talk made it sound like it would be, but he was still waiting for someone to reveal to those sorts of guys that reality was passing them by.
To him, it was more important that he do things the way that he wanted to, rather than listen to some absurd ideas batted around by people who didn't know better.
