Great Will: Healer, Swordswoman [Episode 184642]

by Kestral

She had been cast out from her tribe due to her unlucky coloration, and was now with the humans and those who favored them. Eishun, the leader of this group, had brought her in, a child injured by events that had occurred between that exile and his finding of her.

Now she was Setsuna Sakurazaki, and she watched from a distance at the boy who had pulled her back from death.

Her gaze was unblinking as she regarded him from across the distance, as he worked out.

"What of the boy?" asked the large individual Setsuna had learned was the boy's father.

"Oh, he's learning martial arts," said Eishun. "Though as you might imagine, the mage groups really want to get him."

"Magic?" asked Genma.

"Oh yes," agreed Eishun. "Both the practitioners of Eastern and Western styles, even though with his power like that - he's going to be better at defensive and healing magic than attack spells. His one attempt at onmyouji was... well..."

"That's the paper doll magic?" asked Genma.

"I wouldn't call it that near some of the practitioners," said a wincing Eishun.

"Ah, well I wouldn't expect him to be good at that," admitted Genma.

Setsuna considered that.

"Setsuna will be trained in the Shinmei School of Swordcraft, and will protect my daughter," said Eishun.

"Is it a powerful school?" asked Genma, sparing a brief glance at the little girl moving around them before dismissing her as anything important.

"Very," said Eishun. "Meanwhile... ah. My daughter Konoka. If things could have worked out as in YOUR world from what I've heard, I would have let her live her life without having to be involved in magic."

Genma had heard an old line that seemed appropriate here. "Life is what happens when one makes other plans."

"So true," said Eishun, kneeling as his daughter came running up to him.

Setsuna saw the little human girl, and wondered if they were going to be friends.
