Ranma healed them and didn't think anything of it. At that time at least.
THIS time was a little different.
"What happened?" asked the eight year old boy, looking at the two six year old girls. He recognized them, having seen them around a few times. Usually when they were giggling about something inscrutably girlish.
"It was a renegade," said Eishun, his manner grave. "One of the tengu guards had a rotwyrm that had infected him and he attempted to kill these two. Setsuna guarded Konoka to the best of her abilities, but it was not enough."
Ranma went to work, knowing something of the using of his talent now. The slices that marred the two, missing chunks of flesh, and his power surrounded them with a glow. Flesh glowed, mended, renewed.
Two sets of young eyes blinked and looked up at the healer and then found each other.
Eishun noticed, and considered a few things.
Genma sat down on the cushion, rubbing his shoulder and looking sour. "I know my healing power keeps me from dying, but it doesn't do a thing about hurting."
"No, I don't imagine it does," said Eishun, making tea.
"Most of the world looks vaguely similar, and the year's the same, but it LOOKS so backwards," said Genma, shaking his head. "I thought I might have been put into history somehow."
"Certain areas of technological innovation under monster rule is discouraged," said Eishun. "Likewise, magical or ki-based higher end martial arts are discouraged. For obvious reasons. Their policy is to keep the sheep dumb, placid, and easily culled for their purposes. They use their pawns within human society to tear down any group or individual that might actually improve the lot of humans on this world."
Genma sighed as he watched the tea being made. "Well, I faced one of those things with the fanged tentacles. I can see why anyone without MY talents would be in trouble."
"You killed it of course," said Eishun, pausing in the midst of pouring tea.
"When I arrived, I would not have, after seeing one in action, I felt I must," said Genma, his face darkening. It was one thing to call his old Master 'evil', quite another to see something like THAT at work and term it anything lesser. He was not, by nature, a killer but even when he'd had the thing damaged and it had cried out - he had found no mercy left in him for such a creature. "It spoke in the voice of the woman it had just killed."
"By killing the beast, you freed her soul," said Eishun quietly. "She will at least know peace."
"Hmph," said Genma, still troubled by the encounter. "So what did you want to talk to me of?"
"Were you able to find this friend of whom you sought?" asked Eishun.
"No," said Genma. "If Soun Tendo exists, he does not live where I remember his old address to be."
"I see," said Eishun, pouring the tea now.
Genma sighed. It would have been a lot easier if he could have found Soun. When he'd returned, he'd noticed the two little girls spying on his son. Well, it could be a worse arrangement, he supposed.
Of course, Soun could be ANYWHERE if he even existed in this world. It could be that the Soun Tendo of this world didn't even know any Genma Saotome. Or he might not exist. Certainly the Tendo ancestral home did not. Especially with everything looking as though it was:
