Naruto sat in his apartment, crying softly. He hadn’t cried as the villagers made fun of him, he didn’t cry when they ignored him.
But with the last supply of ramen anywhere in the village in his cupboard, ready to be made; for this, he would cry.
“No more ramen after this,” he said quietly. “Not until they get some female drivers trained for their routes.”
No more ramen for at least a week, maybe even longer.
For some strange reason, Mr. Ichiraku wasn’t too upset. He just had this weird smile on his face, like he was stuck in a genjutsu. “Maybe I should get Sakura to check in on him,” Naruto wondered out loud.
A knock on the door got his attention. “I wonder who that is.”
Sasuke Uchiha was many things.
Happy was not one of them.
His brother was dead; dead because of a stupid mistake. How was he supposed to be an avenger, how was he supposed to carry on now? Itachi wasn’t supposed to die like that. He was supposed to die by Sasuke's hands.
But no, Itachi had to be killed by one of the stupidest mistakes in the world. And now, that made all his suffering under Orochimaru worthless.
“This just sucks,” he sulked from inside his locked room. Sure, if he was serious, the room wouldn’t have done much to stop him, even with the additions the ANBU made to it to keep him in there.
But now, his life was without purpose. Sure, he could rebuild his clan. But considering how many bridges he had burned down to destroy Itachi, was that even an option here anymore?
“Why is life so unfair?” he groused, as he walked around his small room.
Lee was peering outside his Dojo, being very careful. For some reason, his Sensei, Gai, had warned him to be very careful. Because of some threat, his grand teacher had warned him that something was going on, and that his fires of youth would soon be in jeopardy.
So he was being careful. Already, he had heard of Tenten looking for him, something about “family arrangements”.
No, he was certain that Gai-Sensei had warned him of this very situation.
“I will await Gai-Sensei’s return,” he muttered, as he closed the blinds.
“If I fail to wait for him, I shall run 1000 time around Konoha. If I fail that...”
Kakashi sighed. “No more missions either.”
“Huh?” asked Jiraiya.
“We’ll never be allowed out of the village again, not if we’re the only guys around.”
“Don’t forget higher hostilities,” said Genma. “After all, if we have the market cornered on available males, cause I doubt Suna will take any chances with their Kazekage and that Puppet ninja, then the other villages will see us as a prime target. We’ll be lucky to be allowed outside of special rooms.”
“You just always have to kill our happiness, don’t you,” said Kakashi.
“You don’t understand,” said Genma. “We’ll never step foot outside this village again, we’ll never go on a mission, we’ll never do anything.”
“So?” said Kakashi,
“That includes Gai,” smirked Genma.
Kakashi blinked. “You don’t mean...”
“Yep,” said Genma, refilling Kakashi’s drink. “Soon, there will be an explosion of youth!”
Kakashi started to cry once more.
