Some of the boys looked bored, some joked or shared looks, a few were serious. Professor Oak was a bit surprised to see Ash in that last group. Well, it was about time.
"Those oh-so-important first assignments will be posted by tomorrow morning," said Professor Oak. "They will take into account what sort of pokegirl you ended up with as well as your academic record. I want you to take your pokegirl and go out and train for the rest of the day. Be here tomorrow by 08:00."
Six candidates. Six pokegirls. Six assignments.
Professor Oak finished noting things on the whiteboard, then took his seat and waited for the others to voice their opinions.

Cherry drained the saucer he'd just filled with sake. "Most ominous."
"Agreed," said Onsen-mark.
"Considering how Gary caught his pokegirl, I expect her to find a way to exchange Masters," said Professor Oak. "I'm really disappointed in him."
"So what kind of tasks do we have available?" asked Onsen-mark.
"I've a few ideas," said Cherry, smiling ominously.
