No, it had to do with the fact that he was having trouble thinking of Kasumi of all people involved in fighting. Sure, this wasn't exactly the one that he remembered from his days in Nerima, and she was supposed to be taught, but it wasn't exactly easy to get over preconceived notions. If it had been someone like Kodachi, Shampoo, or even Nabiki, it might have been easier. But his mind had a bit of trouble connecting the idea of the gentle and soft eldest Tendo sister going in to bash some sort of combat veteran.
At least she was dutifully floating nearby, even if was a bit distracting to have such a shapely form in skintight clothing nearby.
"Man," he sighed, and pressed his lips together as he started pacing. "I know that I've gotta do it, but the question is how."
Kasumi blinked at him, but didn't seem to have an opinion of her own.
"It ain't your fault. The thing is that I know fightin' and teachin' ya ta fight isn't 'xactly what I thought it'd be."
"Hmm?"
"Guess that'd be a problem. But I can't just leave it like that. Ain't gonna let somethin' stop me just when I'm gonna get started," he resolutely stated.
"Un!"
"Then what can I do? It ain't like I can just leave it like this.... I can figure it out. I'm sure of it. Stay with me on this."
"Ya!" she replied, and floated over to trail in his wake as he paced.
"It ain't like you'd be untrainable. I mean, ya seem ta be really smart, and ain't exactly bad about holdin' back."
"Gah?"
"It's true. You're not a fighter now, but I'm sure that I could figure somethin' out. The thing is that I'd have ta get ya ta follow my.... You're followin' me. Like a...."
She stopped when he did, and gave him a simple questioning look as he looked over his shoulder at her.
"Ya are doin' what I told ya. And it's not somethin' that has'ta do with fightin'. Which means.... Ya know, this is gonna take some gettin' usedta."
"Oh?"
"Yeah. I mean, who says that ya have ta bash anyone. In fact, c'mere...."
"Ah?"
"Lemme show ya a little somethin' called 'Tai Chi', and 'Aikido'. And I hope that I know enough 'bout usin' pressure points. Still, ya have ta start at the basics, and that means learning ta stand right. Which means that ya've gotta shift like this."
Rather than instinctually fighting against being pushed about, Kasumi found herself being rather curious as she was shifted into a different position, and reacted quickly to show her feelings as she found herself close with him.
"Oh man. This is gonna be a long day," he murmured to himself as she rubbed her back against his chest as he tried to guide her hands. "Like this, okay? First position's important, then we build from there. And later, we'll train in other things."
"Oooh...."
Ash just had to wonder if any other trainers were going to be having... difficulties of their own.
Ataru understood the basics of being the trainer of a Pokegirl. They were fighters, and one had to make it so that they would do their tasks with just a command. That didn't mean that they were merely supposed to be zombies, as it wouldn't exactly to have that sort of mess to deal with. Rather, they were supposed to be able to do a lot of things, from being scouts and defenders, to being manual laborers and advisors.
He just had two things that he wished for. The first was that he wanted to have gone back and gotten that succubus. She had been so sexy, and everyone knew what they were like. Heck, the Nekomatta would have satisfied him, since she was pretty cute. And his second wish was rather immediate and direct at the moment.
Right then, he just hoped that he'd survive to see that meeting in the morning. "Wait, wait, WAIT! Don't do that!"
Even if her vocabulary was based on hisses, snarls, and growls, Ran was rather able to easily make her displeasure known, as the showing of her fangs, curving of her fingers looking like they were ready to claw something, and her attempt to loom over him all helped in that regard.
"Listen! It was just a comment! I'm sure that you'll do better than those other ones, okay?"
"Pheh," she grunted.
"Come on. You picked me, remember. Which means one thing, you know."
"Mmmmmm...."
"You want me to train you. And I can't do that if you're facing me."
For a moment, indecision crossed her features, but then she turned and faced away from him, looking ready to be sent out.
"Okay. Good. Now...." he trailed off, blowing out stress along with a deep breath. "If you would, just... try to slice that tree."
Almost as if it was a big help to let out her anger, Ran leapt forward and whipped one hand across a massive tree, leaving a series of deep slices as she did so.
That gave him new respect for her powers, as it was clear that she was not quite a shrinking violet. Though, he also had to admit that, despite not being the bustiest Pokegirl around, was the bearer of a rather nice behind.
Not that it was entirely clear as to what she would do if she discovered that he was thinking of her in those terms, while:
