Mousse and the transformed Herb looked over the boy in black and red silks. They both noticed the guards, of course, but they came to the independent conclusion that the guards themselves were most likely to keep their employer from being bothered by annoyances - the truly dangerous one was the employer himself.
"Herb, Mousse," said the boy, folding the device up and sticking it into a belt pouch. "I am Ranma. Did the yoma give you the details?"
"You have the Pot Of Liberation?" asked Herb.
"Yes, though not with me," answered Ranma. "It wouldn't do to tip our hand too early, which you suddenly able to change back would do. We're planning on taking the village - but we need to neutralize the Elders first."
"Hmph," said Herb, crossing her arms under her breasts. "So you've already established what WE get out of it. What do YOU get out of it?"
"Free and open access to Jusenkyo, which would open up possibilities for my own troops," said Ranma. "I could give other reasons, but I have reason for vengeance - and that is quite enough. I'll give you more details if you join forces with me."
Herb and Mousse looked at each other, but the decision had already been made.
"Okay," said Mousse. "We're in."
Jusenkyo was transformation magic. It was tied to hot and cold water. That tie could be altered by someone with access to sufficient magic.
The yoma were essentially magical creatures. Many of them possessed or infected common objects as part of their own abilities.
Ranma had hit on an idea to combine the two and actually get something useful out of Jusenkyo if they couldn't utilize it as an energy source.
