“Can we stop this now?” whined Usagi, leaning on the table in the room. “I don’t wanna patrol anymore.”
“We can’t [yawn] stop now,” said a tired Rei. “He’s up to something. I just know it.”
“Maybe he was telling the truth,” said Ami. “I mean, we haven’t had a youma to deal with in a while. None of our friends are missing or acting strange.”
“Well ... stranger,” said Usagi, remembering Umino.
“But he took care of Beryl!” said Rei. “I just know he has to be [yawn] evil!”
“Um, excuse us,” said an older woman, knocking on the door.
Rei quickly stood, smoothing out her priestess uniform, as she answered it quickly. “Yes?”
“Is this the secret Senshi meeting?” asked an older man with glasses.
“Papa!” screamed a small girl.
Rei’s eyes just opened wide, her earlier tiredness replaced with fear, as Usagi and Ami slowly peaked over her shoulder. “Um...”
“Sorry,” said the man, scratching the back of his head. “I just wanted to make sure my daughter met the right people.”
“And what makes you think we’re Senshi?” asked Ami.
“WAH! I’M GOING TO BE GROUNDED!” screamed Usagi.
Luna wanted to slam her head into a wall, but that might attract more attention than Usagi was doing ... if possible.
“But the nice boy said I would meet my teammates here,” said Hotaru, holding out her henshin wand.
The others could only stare at the wand, as Luna slowly came out, a look of fear growing on her face. “S-S-Saturn!” she eeped.
“Who?” asked Rei.
“A talking cat,” said the woman. “I think we’re in the right place. Those mangas I read when I was younger always said a magic girl was supposed to have a talking animal as an advisor.”
“That’s what I said too,” said Usagi.
“I thought those were Hotaru’s,” said the man, looking at his now embarrassed wife.
“So that’s why you bought me those,” said Hotaru, holding the bag full of manga her father had bought her for an ‘I’m sorry we left you alone for so long’ present.
Usagi could only stare with stars in her eyes, spying several titles she had been wanting to read.
Luna continued to look on in fear. Saturn was awake! Now what could she do? Well, maybe it wasn’t as bad as she feared. The girl’s parents seemed to know and accept, and the girl was hardly giving off the ‘I will kill you when I feel the desire to’ vibe.
“Um ... maybe we should talk inside,” said Rei, wanting to find out about the new Senshi, the boy who had sent her head, why Luna was about to pee herself, and...
“Right this way,” said Usagi, pushing past Rei, and escorting the girl in, palming a few of the manga, before she started to rapid-fire questions.
The two adults shrugged before following. It would only be right for them to meet their daughter’s newest friends.
“Where are they?” asked Herb, looking around. “They should have been here by now.”
“Stop complaining,” said Mousse, cleaning his glasses. “We’re early.”
“Idiot, we still need to be careful,” spat Herb, fingering the dagger she had up her sleeve. “That ki wasn’t normal.”
“You ones me sent to meet?”
The two turned, seeing a three meter tall female ... something, standing there between two trees. “You sent the letter?” asked Herb, preparing to attack.
“Not me,” said the youma. “Master order other youma to make contact. Me no good at sneaking.”
“Who are you?” asked Mousse, his hands inside his sleeves, ready to release an attack if needed.
“Me is Goldenrod,” said youma, smiling, though the happy effect was somewhat ruined by her monstrous teeth. “Master is Dark Lord of ... umm ... me not sure what they call now. Master still working on new name.”
“And how did your Master come by his interest in us?” asked Herb.
“Him look for allies,” said Goldenrod. “Him want his kingdom to be strong, after kill former Queen Beryl and the Demon Goddess Metallia.”
Herb’s eyes went wide, remembering a few stories she recalled being told when she was younger. “He killed the Shadow Demoness.”
Goldenrod nodded happily. It was so nice to have a leader who didn’t tend to send you out to be killed. And with him in charge, she hadn’t been so well fed in ... well, as long as she could remember.
“You know of them?” asked Mousse.
“Legends, mostly,” said Herb. “Even they are ancient to the Musk. I’d be surprised if those old bitches you call Elders didn’t at least hear of them.”
She turned back to the youma. “What is he offering us to become ... allies?”
“Him make you man again and fix problem with power,” said Goldenrod, pointing at Herb. “Him fix your eyes,” she added, pointing at Mousse. “And then he fix your enemies, give you payback.”
The two looked at each other, before slowly turning to face the youma. “If you are lying,” said Herb, fists tight. She would never forgive them if this was a trick.
“Me no lie, me just give message,” said Goldenrod. “Him say if no believe, me say he find kettle. He say he no send water, cause if Amazons see you change, they know you turn against them.”
“He has the Pot of Liberation,” gasped Herb. If he had that, then she could be free of being stuck in her female body.
Mousse slowly continued to think. Sure, getting his eyes fixed would help. But with the chance to finally strike back, could he take it. Sure, he hated the Amazons, but getting vengeance, now a real possibility, might mean he would have to fight Shampoo.
Goldenrod stood there. “Me take you to him now, if you want. Me to get answer and head back.”
Mousse slowly looked up. He would agree to meet with this Master and see for himself what they could offer. Who knew, maybe he could even get Shampoo out of this. It would be nice to have a willing woman in his bed, instead of his ... ‘wife’.
“Let’s go,” said Herb.
