Minako and Makoto looked back and forth between Ranma with hunger in their eyes and the Outers with envy. Usagi looked happy for her friends, but seemed a bit confused at the same time. Rei seemed to be muttering visions telling her she needs learn to share more often. Haruka and Michiru were just shocked by Setsuna’s outburst, whether it was because Setsuna yelled or what she yelled was not known. Hotaru would look at Ranma, blush then look away, she would then look at her parental figures and blush even harder and look at her lap, and finally she would repeat the process. Ranma was looking up at the ceiling wondering why the Kami hated him so much. Ami moved towards Ranma to in her mind, ‘Protect Niisan from desperate scanks…err friends.’
“The Kami must hate me,” Ranma said this time loud enough for everyone to hear. “Just when I escape one group of girls trying to marry me I run into another.” The others shifted their gaze to Ranma with curiosity on their faces. Ranma however did not seem to notice. “Next thing you know I’ll run into some rose throwing, poetry spouting pervert trying to defeat me to ‘free his loves from my foul sorcery,’ of course he’ll be a wimp,” at this Haruka snorted while Usagi and Rei scowled, “and some other rivals will show up out of the wood work with cross-dressing weirdoes not far behind.” This time it was the Inners who snorted and Haruka the one with the scowl. “I mean come on, just when I get something good in my life more trouble just pops up. I mean can’t I get a break just once? Am I just the Kami’s plaything? Can’t I get some peace for once in my life?”
By now it was clear that Ranma was ranting, or venting depending on the person’s point of view. But still Ami was getting worried as he started listing the many problems in his life. “Niisan?” she asked trying to catch his attention to which he ignored going on about Fat Pandas. “Niisan!” Ami said with more force and a little louder. Still Ranma ignored her this time ranting about uncute tomboys and large mallets. “NIISAN!” Ami yelled and slapped him, but as Ranma could take punches that will shatter boulders all Ami really did was hurt her hand. Ranma was now griping about stupid ancient laws and sore losers. Finally Ami saw a cooling cup of tea and splashed it over Ranma’s head and yelling once more, “NIISAN!” While Ranma stopped ranting because of his transformation, it only added more confusion to the group as a whole.
“And then there’s this,” Ranma-chan gave one last grumble.
Once again the room lapsed into silence. The Senshi trying to figure out what just happened and Ranma-chan waiting for the usual reactions to start. Ranma-chan did not have to wait long as Haruka, still in some form of shock, leaned over and pocked Ranma-chan’s right breast. “Do you mind? That’s kind of personal!”
“Haruka!” Michiru admonished.
“Um sorry,” Haruka said sitting back. Who she was apologizing to was unclear.
“How?” Ami asked.
Surprisingly it was Setsuna who answered. “It’s called a Jusenkyo Curse. It’s a small valley in China. A person or animal that falls into one of the springs takes the form of what drowned there. Cold water changes the person to their cursed form and warm water changes them back. It’s the result of one of the first battles against Beryl in the Silver Millennium.”
Ranma-chan’s question was predictable, “Do you know of a cure?”
“Sorry,” Setsuna shook head no. “Not my area of expertise.”
“I think we’ve gotten off the original topic,” Makoto spoke up. She wanted to know how two lesbians and a cold fish like Setsuna could get a hunk like Ranma (she was not surprised by Hotaru, the girl was cute and sweet and a lot of guys liked that) when she could not.
“Could I get some warm water first?” Ranma-chan asked.
Rei as hostess gave a brief nod before standing up to fetch the warm water. Just as she was leaving she said, “Don’t start until I get back, I don’t want to miss anything. And don’t steal my manga Dumpling Head!”
Usagi, who had been reaching for said manga, cried “Wah! Rei’s so mean!”
A few minutes later Rei came back with a warm cup of water. Ranma-chan took it and emptied it over her head changing her back to a man. “Alright, now start talking Setsuna,” Rei practically ordered.
With a sigh of resignation Setsuna began. “Its rather simple really. The Queen wanted to strengthen the relationship between the Inner and Outer Senshi. The problem was their methods were two different. The Inners were a guard force and Outers were an assault force. There was one factor, or rather person, that linked the two however; the Prince of Mercury, Turquoise. Even before the Mercury Armor he served in the Military and worked with the Outers and became friends with us. And like all Monarchies the Queen arranged a marriage between the four of us,” Setsuna gestured to Outers, “and Turquoise to bolster the alliance between the two teams,” Gesturing to Ranma. “We agreed because it was arranged by the Queen, we each needed to produce an Heir eventually, and we liked him best out of all the noble men in the Kingdom, so it was a win-win.”
“Like killing two ducks in a barrel,” Minako misquoted. The others just stared for a minute trying to understand what she meant.
“Um I have a question,” Ranma spoke up. “Just what are you talking about?”
