You take a sip of the lukewarm green tea that had been prepared by your assistant about an hour ago. Although the temperature of the beverage has dropped, it doesn't bother you as you read the latest e-mail message from Charles Evin (or Chuck as he preferred to be called) for a video conference.
'Crap... I don't want to deal with this now.'
You are well aware that both Chuck and Derek Frost have been adamantly pushing for a more aggressive campaign to eradicate Naturals. They had not been satisfied with the current long-term plan for a gradual phasing out of the Natural group. At least the one thing they shared with their fellow white Americans is that they always seemed to have something to moan about.
To relieve some of the stress off of your shoulders, you get up from your desk and stroll around your spacious office for a bit. The left wall had some Chinese and Japanese artwork hanging on it with some comfortable couches and a small table to hold books and drinks for a conversation. A full body mirror had been attached recently to ensure that his appearance was nothing less than professional when greeting guests. The right side had a massive bookshelf with multiple volumes of literature while a TV hung on the left side of the shelf to keep up with current events being broadcasted to the public.
You stroll around and pick up an old book which is none other than Sun-Tzu's "Art of War". Although this is a reprinted book, you treasure it not just as a tome of strategy but as a gift from your parents who wanted nothing more than to give their son a good chance in life.
Or was it because they wanted you to pick up the family's ambitions? The question did come to mind but it wasn't something that could be asked now since both of your parents had been killed, being caught in the crossfire of a Blue Cosmos attack on some Coordinators.
When you were younger, they had told you about their long talk about whether they wanted to keep you as a Natural or undergo the therapy to make you a Coordinator. Eventually, they agreed to make you who you are today. For that, they were ostracized by other parents. Children had often ganged up on you to cover for their own insecurities and shortcomings while you went through elementary and secondary school.
Your mother simply told you to try and tolerate the Naturals since their jealousy clouded their better judgement but eventually, you came to the conclusion that no matter what, that jealousy would always be the root of the conflict and it had to be removed. Logically, the only course of action would be to complete the next step of evolution and have all humanity become Coordinators.
You pause in front of your mirror and you see a sharply dressed Chinese man in a standard black business suit and tie with brown eyes shielded by glasses staring back at you. Although you had no need of glasses due to superior vision, you had often worn them for stylistic purposes.
A soft exhale... and you feel slightly refreshed before heading back to your desk and logging in for the video conference.
As you log in, you see Cassie Phoenix and Victor Deesee already chatting with each other online. Cassie pauses in her conversation to greet you while Victor gives a silent nod. "Good day, Isaac."
"Cassie. Victor. I hope you're doing well."
"As can be with all the pressure of running my operations," answered Victor in his rich European accent. He dressed a bit more casually and lacked any hair on his head except for a well cared for red beard.
"I've already started implementing plans to insert some agents inside the USSA Rebels. Their experience and technical skills would definitely cause trouble for the Atlantic Federation troops there." Considering that Cassie's origins were of South American descent, it wasn't that much of a surprise to you.
But it still nagged at you a bit and you find yourself asking the question. "I admit that this is somewhat unlike you since you are probably as level headed as I am. Sending some of our recruits to go down to defend your place of birth... what's the purpose?"
"There's that and there is an opportunity to get a hold of the special commander mobile suits that fight on behalf of the USSA. Namely, the Sword Calamity and the Forbidden Blue. I've thought about taking the Raider variation as well but it may not do too well in outer space," replied the woman smoothly.
As you process this information, you notice both Chuck and Derek logging on and mentally prepare yourself for another rant from either one of them about why things aren't going any faster.
