Before the Third Hokage, within the hospital of the Hidden Leaf, were two beds. One held the boy known to him as Naruto, the other a girl who resembled the demon container so much, it was uncanny.
“The tests are finished, Lord Hokage,” said a male medic-nin. “The girl is real, and she is ... a container, of exactly the same ... thing as the boy.”
Sarutobi sighed. Now they had not one, but two people inside the village, each one containing a very powerful Bijuu known as the Kyuubi no Yoko. “Kakashi, tell me your story once more.”
The copy-cat ninja sighed, putting away the book he had been reading since he learned that his charge wasn’t in any real danger. “I was on my way to find Naruto and inform him of our mission tomorrow, when I saw him prepare to use the Kage Bushin no Jutsu technique.
“Only before he could finish it, lightening struck.”
“I see,” said the Hokage. “Go on.”
“Anyway, for a moment, there seemed to be these two,” Kakashi said, motioning to the two in the beds, “before the Jutsu seemed to complete, creating a single clone of each. For a moment, it was like time stood still.
“But then a red chakra seemed to be pulled from the originals into the clones.”
Sarutobi nodded. Could whatever have done this placed the Kyuubi into the clones, or had it somehow ... cloned the Kyuubi itself?
“For a moment, it looked like a smaller version of ... it ... was between the original and the clone, before it roared, seemed to be torn in two, and fused with both the original and the clone.
“Then Naruto’s clone and her original just faded away, like they had never been there.”
“Well,” said the Hokage, “we know she isn’t a clone now. And both seem to be suffering from chakra exhaustion ... including ... it.”
The two in the room could only look with wide eyes. Something had happened ... that had exhausted the chakra of something that was supposed to have nearly unlimited chakra?
“A clone made real,” muttered Sarutobi. “There had been some attempts to do such with a Kage Bushin. But the chakra costs were enormous, theoretically more than we even thought Naruto had on his own.”
“Own?” asked Kakashi.
“His ... guest does not supply all of Naruto’s chakra. The Fourth’s seal can use the demon’s chakra to refill Naruto’s, but it also competes with Naruto’s own chakra. As a result, his chakra coils are strengthened, and his reserves grow. On his own, the boy easily now has Kage-level chakra, just not the control over such.
“Sadly, this also makes it difficult to train the boy in control for his chakra. Because he has so much, it is often too easy for him to dump in more than he needs.”
Kakashi nodded.
“But it and the chakra of his ... and her guest, I should say,” said the Hokage, mentioning the girl, “are probably the only reason all of them are alive. If their levels were not what they were, I fear both would have died today. A lesser Bijuu surely would have.”
Kakashi slowly nodded. “They are both very lucky.”
Sarutobi nodded. “A freak occurrence nearly killed them both today.”
He turned to the medic-nin. “Did she have any identification?”
The man nodded, handing the Hokage a slightly singed ID card.
His eyes went wide when he read the information. “Naru Uzumaki. Age 12.”
Sarutobi smiled. “Well then, there is some joy today; Naruto just found a sister.”
