Usagi's New Day: Different villains [Episode 18772]

by Kestral

It wasn't that she hated the Sailor Senshi. It wasn't that she wanted to conquer or destroy the world. It wasn't a case where she was insane or had some desire to be self-defeating. She wasn't a lesbian, and regarded schoolgirls as schoolgirls and way too young even if her tastes had run that way.

Still, she was a powerful user of magic, and things were progressing in a way she did not care for.

Which brought them here.

Some would expect a gathering of the most powerful spellcasters and magic specialists in the world to take place in a darkened underground room. Perhaps in an ancient place of power like the Crystal Chamber in Avalon. Even a place outside time and space like the Locus Primordial.

"Throw a few more shrimp on that barbee, if you would," requested an Australian warlock.

A backyard near Litchfield Park in Australia? Hardly seemed to fit.

"Don't even come near me with that vegimite stuff," said a British sorceress.

"It's good stuff it is, wouldn't waste it on you," said the warlock.

"Good people," said the enchantress, "if I may bring up the reason for our gathering?"

"Right. These Sailor Cadets," said the warlock. "What can we do? You say they're going to build this Crystal Tokyo and we be part of the frozen world surrounding that city. Me own divinations seem to agree that's gonna happen. So what do we do?"

"That crystal of theirs has almost unlimited power, yet using it tends to kill the wielder. The nature of the crystal changes as well, eventually becoming the star seed of their new princess." An Irish woman, her hair streaked with gray, held up a crystal. "So long as that one has her crystal, it is not safe to strike against them."

"Would prefer not to strike against them anyway," said a young looking boy with a Cockney accent. "They're heroes, you know. Saved the world or at least Japan a few times over."

"Mainly from threats connected to a being of chaos that was formed from the Sailor Wars," said the Enchantress. "Rodrick, have you found anything?"

A spectacled nerdish-looking boy stood. "Yes. As near as I can make out, this is how things came about." He gestured and caused a chart to appear in midair.

1,500,000 BC: Tau Ceti civilization develops matriarchial society dominated by Sailors
1,450,000 BC: The Great Purification where the Tau Ceti civilization attempts to purify its citizens of all chaos and evil taint.
1,445,950 BC: The chaos and evil taints purified from the Tau Ceti civilizations groups together in a being that is collectively known as Chaos.
1,445,948 BC: The Sailor Wars begin, pitting those now influenced by the Chaos against other Sailors and those civilizations which either regard Tau Ceti as a threat or refuse to be purified.
1,440,900 BC: A group of refugees flees the violence of the Sailor Wars.
500,000 BC Refugees from the Sailor Wars find the Sol System and form the Moon Kingdom.
200,000 BC Proto Earth Civilization and Moon Kingdom relations turn sour. Cause unknown and under investigation.
150,000 BC Development of Gate Of Time to control paradox and defend against temporal attacks.
100,000 BC Fragment/being of Chaos known as Metal'la enters Sol system from dimensional gate on solar surface. Metal'la infects Beryl with Chaos taint and begins furthering hostilities between Moon and Earth Kingdoms.
99,980 BC After corrupting Earth Prince Endymion's elite Generals, Beryl is apparently defeated by the Moon Kingdom. A masquerade ball to celebrate is called. Metal'la comes out of hiding and destroys the Moon Kingdom but is nearly destroyed herself in the battle. Queen Serenity sends the Senshi and remaining citizens forward into the future to be reborn.
1990 AD Mooncats are awakened and begin awakening the Senshi to battle Beryl once again.

"Note," said Rodrick, "that many of the times are approximate. Viewing that far into the past is a tricky thing."

"How'd you manage to backtrack them?" asked the British sorceress. "Wouldn't you need blood or hair of the people to trace them with any degree of accuracy? Or did you do it via your magical computing?"

Rodrick blushed heavily and mumbled something.

"Rooted around in the trash for a discarded tampon and used the blood from that?" The enchantress rolled her eyes. It wasn't as if magic didn't require the handling of things that were often less than clean. "Whatever works. I assume you're keeping the blood fibers in a safe place in case you need to cast a spell on the provider?"

Rodrick nodded again. "Stasis spell, in a ziplock in a freezer in my labs."

The enchantress nodded. None of them were rank amateurs and a potential resource like that was not likely to be discarded. Everyone present was likely to have worked out several different contingency plans for any number of situations.

"It remain though that we haff stayed out of politicking for many centuries," said an old man as he scooped potato salad onto his plate. He continued to speak even as he started garnishing his hot dogs. "E'en when it would benefit us or the mundanes greatly, we didst stay our hand."

"In this case, they pose a threat to ourselves, even if it is unwitting," said an old Chinese woman as she put the requested shrimp on the grill. "They're nice girls and I don't fancy doing anything harsh to them in any case."

"Move and we may trigger that which we seek to avoid," said a young-looking woman whose ears rose to points. "The gods themselves will not answer us on this. This is a mortal reckoning and they shall not interfere, it is their own policy of Non-Intervention after all."

"Nor wilst the Hellcrew interfere," said the old man as he sat down with his loaded plate. "At least openly. In their case it is because the cycle may start anew and that would suit their own designs."

"Repeat Galaxia's mistake they will," agreed Rodrick. "It is often said that 'Those who do not learn history repeat it.' And history has never been a fascinating subject for the masses. Even those who study often fail to apply it."

"Then the Black Crystal, Wiseman, and a time loop," summed up the Enchantress.

"It's a mess, so how do we resolve it?" asked the elf woman.

After discussion (and lunch) it was decided:
