A Shinobi in Airantou: Stranded [Episode 188178]

'Boy gone... gonna die... boy gone... gonna die...'

The above mental rant may seem at home with a certain bald and pudgy martial artist who often uses his son as a meal ticket and scapegoat however it is not the case in this situation. In fact, the above rant is being used by Jiraiya, one of Konoha's Legendary Three and the author of the infamous "Icha Icha Paradise".

Why was he using this rant? Let us start from the beginning...

It was only a few months into their training trip and both sensei and student were about to depart to sea from the edge of the Land of the Waterfall. Considering how the boat ride to get to their destination would last a while (and he did not want to deal with Naruto's screeching while he went to examine the fine female specimens on the journey), he assigned his pupil a daily exercise of water walking to further enhance chakra control. To further keep his pupil occupied, Jiraiya would tell him to attempt different variations of water walking (water running or jogging for example) or pull off some jutsu while water walking.

Then a huge storm came out of nowhere at the worst possible timing with Naruto in the middle of his exercises. He had planned on going out to find his student but the dark skies, harsh winds and waves would limit his visibility and it wouldn't be practical to get himself lost as well. Besides, he had faith that the brat's resilience would pull through and he would hear him bitching at "Ero-sennin" first thing in the morning.

Once the storm calmed down, the vessel was already near its destination and Jiraiya still didn't see any sign of Naruto. Although the rational part of his mind knew that he should go out on his own and check the area in which Naruto was last seen, the more practical part focused on one single revelation.

Tsunade was absolutely, positively going to murder him.

**********

The last thing he could remember was the sensation of drowning in water. The second the storm started messing up the water flow, it was increasingly difficult to maintain his own chakra flow to stay on top until he fell in. In hindsight, he really should have summoned Gamabunta so that the boss toad can get him back to the boat. Sure he may be mad (and give him another lecture on why he doesn't want to be summoned in seawater) but at least he would still be traveling with 'Ero-sennin' in familiar territory.

As consciousness returned to him, he felt the sensation of someone slapping him. He managed a pitiful groan while he felt the sensation of lying on sand. 'At least I'm on land again...'

"Ah! It's not working!" exclaimed a female voice. "Let's try CPR!!"

'Wha-?' Before he could think further, a pair of lips came into contact with his own and started blowing air into his lungs. "MMMPPPHHHH!!!" The other pair of lips immediately backed off and Naruto started coughing. It took him a few seconds to calm down.

"Are you alright?" A girl dressed in a blue tunic, a short white skirt and long stockings hovered over him. She had long brown hair that had a blue ribbon and blue eyes.

"It feels like I've been hit repeatedly with a Suiton Jutsu but I'll live." He paused as he noticed the girl. "Were you the one who saved me?"

"Well, I did catch you with my fishing rod accidentally so I wouldn't really be a rescuer or anything," said the girl sheepishly as a tiny pig hopped on her head. "By the way, my name's Suzu! And my friend up there is Tonkatsu! Welcome to Airan Island!"

The boy felt his energy rise up as he made a dramatic introduction. "Uzumaki Naruto, Shinobi and future Hokage of Konohagakure no Sato at your service!"

A confused look grew on Suzu's face. "Konoha? Hokage? What's that?"

That pretty much sucked all the energy out of Naruto.
