"I'm sure," said Ferid. "He'll end up going by boat anyway, once he starts running out of time. He can stop at a few of the towns and cities along the way though."
"Odd time for him to question his place within My kingdom," said Queen Arshtat.
"Well, yes, he IS of an age where he should be trying to figure out his role within life," said Ferid. "As far as history is concerned - there aren't very many examples of a Prince doing anything particularly noteworthy."
"Odd still, I had thought he was going to support his sister as an advisor, perhaps eventually getting married off to some noble's daughter," said the Queen.
"So he wants to see things from the perspective of one of the common folk, instead of from the perspective of the nobility," said Ferid. "As for the timing - Lordlake."

However, the Her that was native to this setting had been a maid at a country inn for a little over a week before she'd been sold off as 'hopeless' in domestic tasks. She'd found herself sold as a BOY too.
So here she was, fighting in the Sacred Games, where she'd be very well awarded if she won. Then the noble's son, who couldn't have been more than 10, would get whatever was the prize.
All she had to do was fake being a guy long enough to pull it off. And win of course.
"So, what about this friend?" asked Arshtat. "A warrior?"
"Hadn't seen them for awhile," admitted Ferid, "it's-"
