Day by Night: Head Westward: It's a good thing Genma was a thief [Episode 188406]

“You called for me, Master?”

Sir Integral Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing looked up from the dossier she was reading, upon hearing the voice of the Hellsing Institute's 'pet-vampire'. The wall to her left darkened slightly and Alucard came floating through it, dressed in his usual red suit and hat combination. He was wearing his trademark smirk, which all at once conveyed derision, amusement and respect.

“Alucard,” she greeted him, “I just received a report from our intelligence department. During the last four weeks there have been several break-ins into different blood banks. They all happened at night and all that was stolen were a few bags of blood.” She fixed her servant with a sharp gaze. “I want you to look into this matter.”

Alucard's expression didn't change, but his eyes took on a certain glint. A glint, which, as Integra had come to learn during the years she had known the vampire, indicated disgust. “As you wish, Master.”

“Is something the matter, Alucard?” Integra asked.

“Nothing, master. But I'm a nosferatu, I don't like wasting my time with humans who have an unhealthy fascination with vampires.”

Integra tilted her head slightly, her glasses reflecting the moonlight. “So you think this is nothing more than a few teenagers with an occult fetish?”

Alucard didn't answer, he simply continued to stare at his master.

“I'm quite aware that this doesn't seem like the work of a vampire. Nevertheless, I want you to look into it. Especially in light of recent happenings.”

The recent happenings referring to the incident in Cheddar, where a vampire disguised as a priest had turned large part of the local population into ghouls. And where Alucard had picked up Seras, the police girl-turned-vampire.

“As you wish, my Master.”

“I still don't think this is a good idea, Master,” Nabiki hissed. She didn't feel comfortable breaking into blood-banks and stealing blood. But they needed it and, even with her talent for getting people indebted to her, it was unlikely she would be able to acquire the crimson liquid they needed to survive any other way.

“I know, Nabiki. But we ain't got no choice,” Ranma murmured in reply while he was stuffing the loot from their latest robbery into a backpack. “Unless you plan to go around bitin' people and suckin' their blood, this is the only thing we can do.”

“I know, but if we ever get caught...” Nabiki trailed off. She didn't want to think of what would happen if they ever got caught at doing this. Charges for breaking and entering would be the least of their problems. Until now they had been able to keep their change a secret from everybody. That was sure to change if people in Nerima got wind of them stealing blood. They had already been suspicious of their changes in appearance and behaviour. Ranma's in particular. It wouldn't be hard for them to figure out what had happened to Ranma and her if they got caught at their irregular nightly activities. She suppressed a shudder at the probable reaction of her father and didn't even want to think of what the Amazons might do.

“Don't worry, Nabiki,” Ranma reassured her. “We ain't gonna get caught. I'm the best, after all.” He shot her a reassuring grin...

And suddenly started cursing under his breath.

“What?” Nabiki asked and frantically looked around for any sign of trouble. “What's the matter, Master? Did somebody see you?”

“Nah,” Ranma said. “One of the blood bags ripped open and spilled all over my shirt. And it's such a pain to get blood stains out of silk.”

Nabiki suppressed the urge to strangle her master for getting her worked up over something so trivial.
