Asuka whipped her head from side to side as she tumbled backward. Whatever had slammed into her hadn't actually hurt, but it had knocked her backward, an experience made all the more disorienting by her continued blindness. 'Damn it, what the hell's going on!?'
Asuka! Calm down! Hikari's mental voice called out.
"Calm down? I'm blind, I'm freefalling in the stratosphere, and someone's trying to kill me!" Asuka stiffened as she felt a sudden pressure as something grasped her arms and feet like a vice. With a wordless cry she struggled against the bindings.
Maya looked at Asuka, feeling the strain as the redhead struggled against the air Maya solidified around her arms and legs. Blanching slightly she flew backward as the younger girl suddenly began to spin, her limbs easily pulverizing the solid air holding them.
'Woah!' Asuka thought, bracing herself for a surge of vertigo caused by the spin. As her stomach remained solid, she tried looking around again, scowling at the persistent whiteness that remained all she could see.
Asuka, listen to me! I think I can use your mind to home in on whoever's out there with you, but you have to calm down! Take a deep breath and think of... Mozart or something.
'Mozart. . .' Asuka's mind grabbed the last term, and suddenly she recalled the time she had overheard Shinji practicing with his cello. 'Weird, Shinji playing an instrument, and weirder he was actually pretty good at it.'
Close enough. Hikari thought at Asuka as she focused her power.
Maya!
"Huh?" Maya looked around, trying to trace the source of the unfamiliar voice.
It's Hikari, we met last night at the game? Silver Dove, complete with telepathic power?
"Oh yeah, the one with the freckles."
Look we're trying to figure out what's going on, so we asked Asuka to fly up here and look for you, so why are you two fighting!?
"Why? I was just minding my own business, trying to get the illusion powers I've supposedly got to work right when little miss particle beam nearly blows a hole in me! Anything I did was pure self defense!"
... Ok, Asuka?
"Huh? Wait, when that weird... Thing was messing with my eyes, I felt... Ok, that must have been me using my energy blast power, and I must have also triggered that boost thing which is why I can't see anything." She raised her hand and massaged her forehead.
Maya looked at Asuka. "You can't see anything?"
"Not at ... wait," Asuka blinked, raising her hand in front of her face. "It's blurry, but it's getting clearer," She looked toward where Maya's voice had been coming from, and blinked in surprise.
"Ok, well as long as you're not going to be..." Maya trailed off as she registered the expression of disbelief on Asuka's face. "What? Come on, how weird are butterfly wings with everything else going on?"
Asuka looked at the figure who had spoken, a figure speaking with the voice of Ritsuko Akagi, wearing the face and body of Ritsuko Akagi, and was floating in space wearing nothing but a length of ribbon wound around herself in imitation of one of the bikini imitating one piece swimsuits and tied into a bow in front of her breasts. "Um, why do you look like Dr. Akagi..." Asuka asked tentatively.
Maya blinked. "Huh? I've been trying to change how I look all morning but..." She trailed off as she recalled the last illusion she had tried during her experimentation. Her cheeks reddening, she concentrated on changing the illusion again. "Um, how do I look now?"
Asuka looked at Maya floated, looking exactly like she had yesterday, and wearing the same uniform she had yesterday. "Just like normal."
Maya shook her head. "Which means that my illusion powers work, but I can't see them myself."
