"Any luck?" Asuka asked.
I'm trying my best. Keep pestering me, and you'll just give me a reason to work on ways to download the headache this is giving me into your skull. Hikari's telepathic voice replied in annoyance.
"Sorry, take your time, take your time." Asuka sighed, and put her hands behind her head, floating backward while looking up at the sky.
Bump
Asuka blinked as she suddenly felt her back hit something. It gave a little, but was still far more solid than anything floating so high should be. Pivoting, she extended her hands to rest on whatever she had hit, and pivoted around, looking at it.
Her eyes identified the wall made of solid clouds, but then a need not to look hit her mind like an oak battering ram. Her head started to jerk away, she forced it to turn back. Her eyes tried to close, she pushed to force them open. And as they opened wider than normal, she suddenly felt a burning pressure explode from within her eyes and all she could see was white.
The previous night:
Asuka sat looking from her incomplete character sheet to the book and back. She tapped the notepad beside the sheet with her pencil. "Ok, I've got the strength, the durability, the flight, and thanks to the whole wood darkness thing, I've still got enough points to buy up some sort of energy beam power." Once again she looked into the book, flipping three pages. She frowned as she contemplated the variety of different ability's, each with different advantages, disadvantages and costs.
Asuka, looked at a specific passage.. "Hmm, eyes as the source of the energy blasts. Bonus to initiative, bonus to accuracy . . . Well the penalty to damage is to be expected. Although, just in case I can get a temporary disability option, allowing me to boost the damage . . . Ok, Ultra-Lady can boost the power of her Ultra Vision at the cost of temporarily going blind, for a time period determined by how much she boosts it. That will work." She wrote the specifics on the sheet, pausing partway through.
"Better make sure I leave enough points to buy Blind Fighting skill just in case."
Inside her fortress, Maya stood before the mirror she had formed from ice. She scowled as she flapped her large butterfly wings and saw them flap within the mirror. 'I'm positive I remember my character having illusionary powers to appear normal, but no matter what I try, it's still Mothra does Tokyo 3!'
Maya suddenly blinked as one of the walls of the chamber bowed inward an instant before exploding as a great wave of white energy surged toward her. She jumped to avoid it, but with a sudden thrust and screaming pain, she realized that the beam had clipped one of her wings.
Hovering cautiously, she looked toward where the beam had come from, and blinked at the sight of Asuka, her eyes white and still crackling with energy. Suddenly the girl's head began to turn towards her.
"No you don't!" Maya screamed, gesturing with her hand as she gathered and solidified a portion of the air surrounding her and slammed it into Asuka as hard as she could, throwing the redhead back into the sky.
