"Hikari, Hikari!" Rei chanted as she stood hands to forehead. She lowered her hands. "Strange, it doesn't appear to be working."
"Realy?" Shinji asked uncertainly. He took a breath. "Well, I suppose I should try." He closed his eyes, and brought up the class representative in his mind. "Hikari?"
Shinji? Hikari's voice suddenly sounded in his head.
"Hikair? You can hear me?" Shinji asked.
I can make you out, mostly. There's a lot of other voices to filter.
"Oh. Well, I'm with Rei, she just tried calling you but I guess you didn't hear her did you?"
I don't think so, I'm mostly trying to block out outside thoughts, not scan for them. It's all giving me a headache.
"Oh, well, then let's make everything simple. I'm with Rei, Asuka's in the air trying to find Maya, and we were in the process of trying to contact everyone who was at that game last night."
Kensuke's at Toji's. He made contact with me earlier, and said something about making me a costume. I'm not sure what to think about prancing around in a costume, but none of my clothes will fit me.
"Oh," Shinji thought of how she had described her characters resemblance to Cutey Honey the night before. His mind brought up a memory of one of Honey's transformations.
HEY, keep a lid on the Etchi stuff!
"Ah, I'm sorry." Shinji responded, closing his eyes as he tried to keep his mind from bringing up the many fan service moments from the show.
Shin. . . I shouldn't have told you 'don't think that' should I? Ok, I'll try to contact everyone else, we'll figure out what to do and where to get together. Try to. . . I'll contact you later. By cell phone.
"Sorry," Shinji responded. His eyes flicked back and forth while waiting for an answer, then he shrugged his shoulders.
Asuka floated above the clouds, her hair whipped by the wind. She suddenly dropped about three feet before bouncing back upward. 'Ok, couple thousand feet in the air, that's a safe margin. But, it's not about me, it's about Maya, who's supposed to be here. Somewhere.' She looked around, then rose in the air a foot while doing a slow pirouette.
"Maybe I should have bought super-vision, or something." She muttered as she went round a second time, still scanning the sky.
Asuka?
"Huh?" She turned her head from side to side, looking for the source of the voice. "Hikari?"
Ah, good, I wasn't sure I could home in on someone who isn't thinking about me.
"Home in, What are you talking about?" She spun again, coming to a halt and hovering smoothly while she added, "Where are you?!"
I'm at home, talking to you with the telepathic powers I woke up with this morning.
Asuka raised a hand and slapped her forehead. "Of course, you had Telepathy! I completely forgot."
Well, with everything happening, that's quite understandable. Hikari trailed off.
Asuka floated for a few silent moments. "Hikari?"
Just thinking. Shinji mentioned that you were trying to find Maya, any luck yet?
"No luck. Do you realize how big the sky is?" Asuka raised her hand to her chin. "Wait, can't you use your telepathy to home in on Maya?"
I don't know. Frankly, homing in on a specific mind is HARD. Though it's easier if their thinking of me at the time it seems.
"Well, you homed in on me pretty easily."
Don't call anything I'm doing easy until you've spent a few hours in my telepathic skull. Finding your mind was tough, and I know you fairly well. Maya, I hardly know at all.
"Ah, guess I was too quick with the praise." Asuka raised a hand to scratch the back of her head. "Wait, does your power have a directional aspect to it? I mean we're pretty sure Maya's somewhere high in the air, so you can factor out everyone on the ground."
