His problem was in that they couldn't stay forever, as part of the reason for the training trip was to get the boy to learn all that he could. Sticking to one place had a good chance of limiting that, not that the boy noticed. Sure, Ranma got excited about the chance to go and visit all sorts of training grounds, but he had a habit of not getting the point of what his father wanted. Genma had asked him multiple times about what it would be like to continue the journey, and it turned out that the boy had come up with some odd ideas about it. In fact, he'd even once suggested that they take his little friends with them!
No, it was better to make this break from that time in the boy's life now, rather than later. As it was, they were in danger of falling into a routine, and being predictable was a weakness that a martial artist couldn't have. Besides... it was getting to be rather annoying to have to wait for the boy to finish up with those children already. He might not have had anything particularly against the kids, but there was a point when there had been enough fooling around.
Of course, having to do it this way also meant that he had to carry the boy around. It was a hassle that he didn't want, but there was little choice in the matter. If he wanted to get to the training ground in China that he'd heard about, he was going to have to have to get the boy there, and without his son being conscious, he was going to have to carry him. Obviously, his boy was not going to sleep the entire way there, but it was enough of an annoyance as it was.
Hopefully, this training ground would live up to its billing. From what he'd heard, it was supposed to be something special that changed a lot of people who'd trained there. Exactly what that meant wasn't something that he understood, but he didn't particularly care. So long as it didn't turn out to be some sort of bust, he was certain that they would get something out of it. Heck, it was even supposed to have a place monsters dwelled nearby, and that would let them have an opportunity to get some practice in as well.
Keeping focused on his goal, Genma plodded on, his son still unconscious from the hit that he took, while:
