As it had been decided that his best opportunity to protect his 'sister' was to blend in with the local populace, he had done his best to do so. Sometimes, plans had called for him to be sneaking around to take the Wraith by surprise, and so he had applied that concept to his current situation. There was no reason to trouble the civilians, so he'd kept things low key, but that hadn't meant that he hadn't been keeping a look out for information to help him 'fit in' better.
Television helped in that regard. Oh, he knew that it was not a documentary, or instructional video, as the Ancients had known works of fiction, and had their own, but he'd also determined that those shows held a grain of truth in them. If they hadn't had situations that were based in fact, then it would be impossible to understand them. Since that was the case, if he took away the clearly impossible things, like the absurd fighting in that one drama about the police chief, then he could take some bits of learning from the more realistic parts of the show.
That meant that he had an example to work with, which he thought was the expected action in this sort of situation. In one of those shows, he'd seen that some sort of miscommunication had caused the lead female character to misunderstand the male lead's intentions, so that she believed that he was interested in her. She then pursued him as a potential mate, leading to odd situations, but that was not the important part. What was of major concern was the fact that he could use that to bring Makoto in towards him, which would secure her presence for future strengthening of bonds with her.
"Then I have work to be done," he commented, looking over the tall brunette as she worked on the simple tasks of laying out food.
Hotaru looked hopefully up at him. "Does that mean...."
"I have worked out a strategy to start the process."
"Okay.... That's good. Right?"
"I believe so."
"Ah."
"I will implement it as soon as possible."
"I'm glad to hear it," she told him, clapping her hands together. "Are you planning on making a big show of it?"
"No. The norm for this situation appears to be of a subtle and simple first act."
Something about his words didn't exactly fill Hotaru with confidence, while:
