Her Master was a warrior who specialized in unarmed combat techniques. He was also her sensei when it came to the Anything Goes style of martial arts.
As she was a retainer, she was not a slave under the legal definition but under the common-use term she was. She would not be expected to do just anything he needed at any given point, as a retainer was a specialist in certain skills.
There was a slave-cartouche tattooed onto the small of her back, and there it proclaimed her Master's name as 'Ranma Saotome' and she was Akane al'Saotome. She also bore the two magical tattoos of a permanent retainer samurai, which would activate when she was serving her Master's needs - Mark Of The Tiger (speed, especially in iajitsu) and Mark Of The Dragon (resistance to injury).
As a leaf broke off from a tree, she went into the utter calm of the professional. Stillness of the mind and spirit. When the leaf passed in front of her, she moved. Katana cleared scabbard, moved through the pattern of 'Swallow Takes Wing', and returned to the scabbard with a click less than a second later.
The leaf was still in a single piece for three seconds before the two halves separated in their glide.
Akane didn't let her pleasure in the accomplishment show, even if there was no one around to see. It was more about being able to focus past distractions than about her speed and accuracy.
As if thinking about it summoned it, her sense of hearing suddenly bloomed forth into that ultra-sensitive mode she found so difficult to deal with. Her eyes widened though as she was overhearing something which did indeed pertain to her, carried on the breeze by those who weren't aware of her unintentional eavesdropping.
