Apparently when she'd designed her ideal body, she hadn't adjusted some things that she should have. So she was allergic to cats now. In a space ship with furred feline alien sharpshooters who spent most of their time playing cards, this was a problem.
As soon as they'd entered the docking tunnel, a speaker crackled to life.
"Captain Akane Tenso of the Red Streak, recently of Coruscant. Xiang Yi, Bing, and Bang. Leave the Farghul behind if you will, I prefer human confrontation."
"Nabiki..." groaned Akane.
"What's a Nabiki?" asked Xiang, wishing for a moment that Ku had come with them.
"Trouble," said Akane, trying to remember a deal she'd made with her sister that hadn't ended up in Nabiki's favor.
"Well, Spider's definitely Nabiki then," said Xiang. "How about we just do our deal here?"
"Fine, disappoint an old lady that doesn't get much guests," said the Spider's voice.
"Last time I was here you charged me for air, use of the corridors I had to walk, and charges for entertainment - and I wasn't entertained!" Xiang frowned at the intercom.
"Spoilsport. My charming presence was entertainment enough. Well, since this isn't a social call, I presume you're after Erinnica Tate, aka Red?" Nabiki's voice indicated the price had just gone up.
"You're very well informed," said Akane.
"Child, that's my business. I... You IDIOT!"
Xiang was clearly shocked by this change of behavior. "What happened?"
"She has a bloody damn obvious homing transmitter set up in her quarters! Transmitting bursts every three hours, and it just squealed. This is *really* going to cost you, Xiang!" Nabiki's voice was coldly furious.
"Charge Tenso - it's her ship and transmitter," growled Xiang.
"Oh bloody damn shards, there was a return. Someone's in system looking for you. And Tenso has some really nasty people after her butt. This place is no longer safe. If you survive Tenso, I'll charge you through the aft sensor on this. Red is heading for the retraining camp on Macho Grande. From there she'll be sent on to Kessler's spice mines. I'd suggest you hurry. I am so out of here."
Xiang frowned. "Run."
"What?!" Akane noticed the two Farghul diving for the hatch back into the Red Streak.
Xiang hit a small device on one sleeve. "She was panicked enough that she was volunteering information. We've got some serious stuff heading our way if Spider panicked."
Akane heard the impact of blaster fire hitting the station and -
