Fae Moon: Cards & Crosses [Episode 190464]

The Citadel Of Bones

Beryl ran her hands around the crystal ball, making gestures that were supposed to look mystic. After a few minutes, and checking to make sure she was unobserved, she picked up the crystal ball and shook it. After peering into its depths with an intent expression, she tried rapping it against the surface of the table a few times.

"Just sit right down and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip,
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny ship.

Beryl smiled, revealing her little fangs. Ah good, she was in time. For some reason, some of the characters reminded her of her generals.

"So, these cards are like a special manuever?" asked Ranma, fitting it into his own worldview.

"Something like that," sort-of agreed Ami.

"Hmmm," hmmmed Ranma, looking over the card from Minako in more detail. There was writing on it, but he wasn't familiar with the language. Not English, he saw enough of that to at least recognize some words. It was that kind of lettering though.

"So, uhm," said Ami, fiddling with her fingers. "Do you... want to form a contract?"

"NO!" declared Genma, having recovered in the meantime. He leapt in between the two and stiff-armed them. "FORBIDDEN!"

"Why?" asked Ranma.

"'Why'?" asked Genma. "What do you mean 'Why'?"

"It's a martial arts special manuever powerup," pointed out Ranma. "Usually you're beating me with a stick to get one. Sometimes literally."

"Then maybe I should kiss this girl," said Genma, "or don't you realize that... say, is it getting awfully cold?"
