The beagle looked up at his master and gave a small little shrug.
"Guess you don't mind that much then. Though...."
"Eh?"
"You don't seem like you're going to be a big talker," the pigtailed martial artist commented. "Heck, you didn't even really make a lot of noise before."
"Never saw the point."
"Ohhh...."
Genma pointed up towards the shrine and the statue in it. "You see? He's seen as a patron of the Art. To tell the truth, I'm not quite sure as to what I should think after realizing the truth."
"Oh?" Setsuna went dully, only really seeing the stylized representation of an all too familiar pigtailed boy.
"Well, I am his father. That means that people are going to be looking to me for signs and such once the facts get out."
"Eh?"
"I'm just not sure. Should I show how I'm a wise and humble sensei, or should I trumpet out the news to all that can hear?"
"You aren't...." she trailed off.
"Look at my son. Everyone will know that he comes from me. Though that will make things difficult."
"Huh?"
"Think about it. Women are going to want to know how I could bring such an amazing kid into the world."
Stopping for a moment, the green tressed woman stiffened before turning to look at the man, her eyes questioning the dignity that he might have had.
It's a kind of magic, It's a kind of magic
A kind of magic
One dream, one soul, one prize, one goal
One golden glance of what should be... It's a kind of magic
One shaft of light that shows the way
No mortal man can win this day
It's a kind of magic
Smoke rose overhead from a dozen cook fires as the laughter of children passed by, along with the pounding of small feet on the dirt paths between the huts. Animals grazed in the pastures nearby, and herdsman kept them safe.
And the clan chief glanced over at his visitor with a measuring eye. "You know, you could marry my daughter, if you want. She is quite the beauty, isn't she?"
"Yes, she is," Ranma allowed, glancing over the long limbed young woman who looked uncomfortable in her simple dress. Sending his host a small smile, he gave a little laugh. "But to tell the truth, I'm not sure that'd be a good idea."
"Why not? I'm sure that she'd honor the promise. Wouldn't you, daughter?"
"I would do my duty," she agreed, bowing her head a bit.
"See?"
"I do. And that's the problem," their guest sighed.
"How is that?"
"Simple. She doesn't want to marry me, and I don't want to marry someone just because we 'had' to. That'd be silly, and I've married for love before."
"I see. Then, my daughter is not worthy...."
"No, no, no! To tell the truth, she's really pretty, and I'm sure that we'd do well together. But...."
"What?"
"If I'm going to be honest.... I'd have to say that she'd have to be happier with someone like this one musician that I'd met a while back."
"Really?"
"Yes, she was quite attractive too."
The girl's expression lightened quite a bit, and she seemed to gain interest in the idea.
"Looks like you know my daughter," the chieftain admitted, shaking his head ruefully.
"Perhaps. There are some things that I can teach her that she might also like too...."
"I don't know how you do it. She's looking happier by the moment. How do you do it? How do you do any of it?"
"It's a kind of magic," Ranma drawled, smirking just a bit.
"Who is that girl, anyway?" Moon asked no one in particular.
Mars seemed to need to give an answer anyway. "I think that she's supposed to be a version of that 'Sailor Uranus' girl."
"You know, that name has so many problems...." Venus murmured. "Why did they use it anyway?"
"I doubt that they thought of any 'trouble' when they used it," Mercury answered, while:
