A shadow moved slightly. A very small shadow. "I've checked into them. Which one do you want first?"
"What about this 'Temari'?" asked the Captain.
"Reputation for being cruel, even merciless in a fight," said the short guy in pseudo-Arabic fashion. "Very competitive, vicious streak. That overlarge fan she has is her chief weapon, which has some Elemental Air properties when charged by her nen techniques. She's repaying a debt she feels she owes Sakura, though now that she's been reunited with one of her brothers - she has another reason for tagging along."
"What does she owe Sakura?" asked the captain.
"Apparently she injured or killed Sakura's previous associate during a misunderstanding," said the short guy. "They're ninjas. I can't approach close enough to get more information without being detected and the ninja webservers are notoriously hard to crack."
"This Sakura then?" prompted the captain.
"Sakura Haruno, medic-nin or a medically trained ninja specialist. Just recently failed a chunin exam," said the short spy. "Part of Ninja Group 7, though that group is at least temporarily broken up. One member is injured or dead, the other has either left on his own or been abducted. MIA is all I could find out. Sakura is apparently trying to prove herself, among other things."
"The boys? They spoke of 'beasts within,'" said the captain.
"No information available," said the spy. "That one boy is even more aware of his surroundings than the ninja. I couldn't get close to him at all. The girl and both boys put out something like a 'dual presence' in their auras. I think the wanderer's is some sort of spirit of vengeance or anger, definitely a lot of red-orange in his aura. Either that or he eats way too much red meat."
"What of your net contacts?" asked the captain.
"Ryoga Hibiki, adopted son of Kiro Hibiki, however he is indeed the oldest brother of Temari and two brothers named Gaara, and Kankuro" said the spy. "Several martial arts styles, cursed to be lost, especially good at Iron Cloth techniques."
"Hmph," said the captain, spitting into the ocean.
"Captain, your pipe..." pointed out the spy.
The captain reached into his coat and withdrew a spare, briefly glancing at the spot where his previous pipe had disappeared under the ocean's surface.
"They did well so far," said the captain as the ship pulled up to the dock. "Now it'll get far more difficult."
"They have a fairly strong group if they stick together," said the spy. "I don't think much of their chances otherwise."
