Of course, this meant that SHE was now keeping an eye out for the intruder.
Michiru extended her senses. As a member of the community of Tenmo, her talents were mostly artistic. Still, she had some intuitive abilities and there were water sources nearby she could draw on if she needed to attack this fellow. She didn't think it would be necessary though. The boy/intruder hadn't, as near as she could tell, ATTACKED anyone. He was doing reconnaisance and trying to avoid direct confrontation. All in all, he seemed to be more curious than anything else.
As she turned her senses outward, she calmed her mind and emotions. Outward, ever outward, her focus drifted.
There. The air moved around someone who was less than a shadow on a branch. How clever. He'd found the bells strung along that branch and wrapped leaves around the clappers. Now he remained up in the branch, and even with his weight shifted between the trunk and the branch itself - there was almost no sign of his presence.
Michiru was intrigued. Hardly a typical high school boy. Perhaps he would be good blood for the village. She and Haruka had both seen the boy, though they'd never actually met, and Haruka had even commented that the boy made a good couple with Makoto. Not that either of them would necessarily mention that in front of the others.
It was Haruka and herself who were two of the three guardians most commonly roaming the shield. The third of their number normally took the approach of a spider, waiting for subtle signals that would indicate the shield being broached and then investigating.
Michiru leaned against the trunk of a tree and studied the area of her target out of the corner of her eye.
His presence was briefly stronger, then faded out even further. Michiru nodded at that to herself. She was sure she hadn't given away her scrutiny, which meant that his own abilities at detection and analysis were quite good.
"Open computer line," said Michiru.
The air apparently replied. "Voiceprint Michiru Kaiou. Opening."
"Location of intruder?" asked Michiru.
"Intruder not found," said the voice.
Michiru nodded, what she had thought. "Check sensor log of most recent intrusion."
"Working. Located," answered the same voice.
"Analysis of intruder," requested Michiru. "Is subject human?"
"Analysis indicates subject is human. Abilities not consistent with human species. No extraterrestrial species DNA found."
"'Curiouser and curiouser,' as Alice said," said Michiru.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" said Rei, running past Michiru.
Haruka came by, not even breathing hard as she passed Michiru.
Michiru considered her options.
