Ranma's New Day: Other Worldly News [Episode 192054]

by Kender

This was the sort of story that would set a reporter's name down in history, and Ayako Webster knew it. It had everything that would draw in interested viewers, from a strangely attempted murder, evidence of a government making a major mistake, a boy who could do all sorts of amazing feats, and chaos in a major metropolis. Just that alone would have been enough to seal the importance of the story, but, if she was understanding what he was saying right, this boy was about to put this story into the 'world changing' category. And that alone was enough to know that she had to get his tale out, no matter if she still didn't have complete proof of whether he was someone who'd just gone on an amazing journey, or a nutjob with superpowers.

At the very least, it would allow her to show up that other station, and its news staff. After all, they had reported that the 'invasion' had happened in New Jersey. Considering the fact that Staten Island had long been a part of New York, she had the added bonus of being able to make them look like idiots.

In any case though, she still had to confirm what she was hearing. "So.... You landed somewhere? Other than on the Earth, I mean."

"Sure did," Ranma admitted, and shrugged slightly. "Not that there was much ta see. I mean, it was kinda dead there."

"There were no people to come out to see you?"

"I think that there wasn't anyone there period. Ya know how there are houses that haven't been lived in for a long time? Ones where it's been so long that ya gotta wonder if anyone's ever stayed there?"

"Yes...." she prompted, frowning as she considered what the possibilities of this were.

"It was like that, but for everythin' that I could see. Near as I could tell, it didn't look like people'd been livin' there for a reall long time. Place was fallin' apart too."

"This 'city' you mentioned?"

"Nope. The planet," the pigtailed boy corrected her, leaning forward as he shook his head.

"What does that mean?"

"Just what it sounds like. Walkin' 'bout was makin' the ground crack, and the rocks broke 'part when I squeezed them. Then there was the air.... Stuff couldn't have been any good for anythin'. Heck, I don't know how I stayed there for the few minutes that I was there. The ship pieces got more damaged just by sittin' in the air, and my shirt froze as soon as I got it off."

"Then, if that is the case, it begs one question," Ayako told him, shooting him a serious look, knowing that it would also respond well with the viewers. "If you were in that sort of place, why weren't you stuck there?"

"Like I said before, I don't know. All that I do know's that I was standin' there, lookin' at one hell of a storm comin' my way, and the next thing that I know, I'm headin' ta crash down in a parkin' lot. Ain't 'xactly that most clear way ta get back, ya know."

"Then you don't know just who sent you back...."

"Pretty much."

"To tell the truth, you don't even know if that really was an alien city...."

His smirk was mocking and self assured. "Trust me. I might not be all that book smart, but I'm no idiot, and I could tell for sure that those blue dome things weren't natural."

Ayako didn't know exactly what this could mean, other than that it wasn't a clear cut responds. But if it had been that simple, then it would have made for a good story. As it was, she now had a bit of mystery to add to the world shaking news that there might just be some sort of proof that humanity was not the only thinking species in the universe. Adding that in would likely give them a boost in ratings, and considering that this was making doing voice commentary from a helicopter seem like child's play.

Knowing that this was a big deal, she wondered what else this story would give her, while:
