On the planet know as Arus, Coran was looking over some sensors in the Castle of Lions, when he picked up something. Pressing a button, he activated the intercom.
"Keith? Will you and the rest of the team meet me? There is something that needs to be checked out," Coran said.
"Sure. We'll be right up."
After a bit the four people that Coran want to talk to showed up. They were Keith, Lance, Hunk, and Pidge. From another door, Princess Allura wearing her pink jumpsuit also entered.
"Coran? What's going on?" Allura asked.
"Two things. One is bad news. The Druul Empire attacked the hospital planet of Traves IV and there are no survivors reported. Since Sven was there...."
"He's probably dead," Keith finished for him. "Rest in peace old friend, we'll hold a memorial later. What's the next item?"
"I'm not sure. I've picked up life signs around Galileo 817 and they appear to be human life signs."
"That's not possible," Pidge said. "There are only three planets around that sun and none of them are capable of supporting life and definitely not human life."
"We're going to be investigating and see what the blazes is going on," Keith stated. "It could be a Druul plot. To the lions!"
On Planet Doom, King Zarkan was watching over prisoners that his guards were whipping and feeding garbage to.
"So much better than recycling," Zarkan muttered to himself.
An old crone walked, leaning on a staff, up to Zarkan and bowed her head.
"Your Majesty, I'm feeling troubled by something that is going on. I feel like a powerful force is about to awaken once more."
"How many Robeasts do we have ready, Hagar?"
"Maybe three that are combat ready, your majesty," Hagar replied.
"Have Yurak go over the other Robeasts and see which can be brought up to combat duty. I want to be prepared for another Voltron. Any idea where it is located?"
Hagar shook her head. "No, your majesty. Wherever it is, it has not had any civilization around it. I have gotten images it has something that three worlds shared in common and helped create."
"Which worlds?"
"Earth, Latecia, and Lilis. There is also some connection to the Gypsy Fleet civilization, which seems to be both equal to the other three and yet opposed."
"Lilis was blown up centuries ago before Earth even had space flight technology and they couldn't have been in contact with them. The only thing Latecia and Earth have in common is the two of them were founding members of the Galaxy Alliance. As to the Gypsy Fleet, it was at war with Latecia around the time Lilis was destroyed and they wouldn't willingly create something with the others," Hagar ranted.
"I'm sorry, your majesty. But, that is what I'm getting from my feelings," Hagar stated. "Maybe it was the descendants of the people of Lilis who worked with the other three."
King Zarkan wore a somber expression, as he thought about the problem. "That colony of Lilis is a member of the Galaxy Alliance, but they are isolationists. They prefer to have no contact with any one, and really hate the Gypsy Fleet. They'll talk to Latecia, since they did beat the Gypsy Fleet. Hagar have some spies infiltrate the four areas and find out what they have in common."
"Yes, your majesty."
The witch bowed and left King Zarkan mulling on the new problem. Zarkan shook his head and left for his quarters to study the history of the Gypsy Fleet and try to get a clue as to what Hagar sensed.
A few hours after heading for the lions on Alus, the Voltron force approached the system that housed the sun known as Galileo 817. Early on, they decided to use Voltron in case of a Druul attack.
"Wow! Look at the debris," Hunk exclaimed. "It looked like a full scaled war went on here."
Hunk was mentioning the fact that there was a lot of wreckage hovering in orbit around the sun. At first glance, it looked like three or four passenger ships exploded. On a closer look, it appeared to be four huge starfighters that had their wreckage strewn across space.
"Did they fight each other?" Allura asked.
Keith pressed some buttons and shook his head. "No. There is a symbol of three yellow circles forming a triangle inside a larger black circle on all four craft near the cockpits. This was a fighter squadron of the same fleet. I'm not sure what fleet it is though. That symbol is tickling the edges of my memory, but I can't recall where I saw it."
"I don't recall any wars that happened near here. Heck, this place isn't in any position to be of much use to anyone," Lance said.
"Keith, I'm checking the status of the craft. Apparently there is some sore of suspension field that is slowly degrading. Judging by what I'm reading, these people have been here for more than three hundred years," Pidge reported.
"Whoa. Talk about time capsules," Lance said. "Well leader, what's the plan?"
"We can't leave them here. We'll have to drag each cockpit back to Alus with us and then get answers later."
Voltron reached out with the arm formed by Red Lion and grasped what appeared to be the remains of the largest fighter. As soon as it grabbed the hulk, the chunk started glowing white.
"What the blazes?! That thing is daring power from Voltron!" Keith exclaimed.
After draining about fifty percent of Voltron's power, a field knocked Voltron away from the debris field and lightning started playing across the wreckage. The Voltron Force watched in amazement as each piece lit up with white light and started heading to other pieces. Soon, only four large glowing white globes remained. The light faded, showing four very large fighters that were all different from one another and yet appeared to be part of the same team.
"Pidge, what's Voltron's status?" Keith asked.
"We're back up to seventy percent," Pidge replied.
"I'm going to wait until we're back up to ninety percent before trying to touch any of those craft," Keith said.
"I'm getting some strange IFF signals from those four fighters. The largest is called Dan Second. The one we tried to grab is called Dan Third. The smallest is called Dan First and the final one is called Dan Fourth," Lance said.
"How are we going to move any of them? Dan Third is as large as Voltron," Allura asked.
"We won't have to. There is some sort of internal guidance computer on all four jets. We grab Dan First and tow it back to Alus with us. The other three will follow. Once we reach Alus, the four will go into preprogrammed landing sequences. Apparently the entire group is known collectively as Danfighters," Pidge stated cheerfully.
"Will we get drained again, if we touch any of them?" Keith asked.
Pidge quickly took some more readings and gave his reply. "No. That was some kind of self-repair mechanism that was still active. Apparently the Danfighters could be fed raw energy and they could use it to repair themselves. I'm not sure of the specifics on how that works though."
"Weapon systems?" Keith asked.
"All four have some kind have rapid pulse laser and a force field that can be used in defensive and offense," Pidge replied.
"How can you use a force field on offense?" Hunk asked.
"It can be set to damage anything it touches and the Danfighters could ram with them, adding their mass to the force field," Pidge replied. "There is some other systems on board all four that I haven't been able to figure out."
"Let's get the fighter to Alus and figure out what were going to do there."
Voltron cautiously reached out and grabbed Dan First and everyone breathed a sigh of relief when nothing happened. Voltron flew towards Alus with Dan First in its grip. The other three Danfighters fired their engines and followed Voltron. After Voltron entered the atmosphere, Dan First fired its engines and broke away from Voltron.
"Let it go Keith," Pidge said. "The four will land by themselves."
And they did. All four craft landed in an empty area behind the Castle of Lions. Voltron broke into the five lions and the group approached the landed fighter craft, with Black Lion standing back in case of something. Yellow Lion approached Dan First.
"Hey, there's a girl in this one and dressed in a swimsuit!" Hunk exclaimed.
Pidge in Green Lion looked in the cockpit of Dan Third. "Same here."
Allura in Blue Lion looked into the cockpit of Dan Fourth. "Here as well."
Lance approached Dan First. "Nope. There is a guy dressed in some kind of uniform. The same symbol that all four fighters have in common is on his uniform."
Keith radioed back to the Castle of Lions and gave an account of what was going on.
"What should we do, Coran?"
"Get the four out of those fighters and in here. If they have been in suspension for that long, they might need some medical attention."
"Understood. Black Lion out," Keith transmitted and then looked over at Green Lion. "Pidge? What are you doing?"
"I was seeing if this fighter as any survival gear or even a box with extra clothes in it stowed away someplace, but I found nothing," Pidge replied. "I wonder what happened."
"We'll find that out when they wake up," Keith said.
