"'Daisuke Serizawa', yes," Kimiko confirmed.
"The man with the eye patch?"
"Yes, him. And you really shouldn't point such things out...."
"Unfortunately, that is the only thing that really comes to mind about his appearance," the Tendo patriarch admitted, and then glanced apologetically towards his wife. "But yes, I'm not looking to be... rude towards the man."
"I'm glad to hear that."
"Thankfully."
"What was that?"
"Nothing, really," he told her, and frowned slightly. Something seemed to be a bit off, and he couldn't place exactly what that was. As near as he could tell, it should have been a simple enough situation, though it had come about in a rather odd way.
"Dear? Are you against this?"
"I don't really know if I know how I feel about this. It is just too... surprising."
Kimiko sent him a reassuring smile. "To tell the truth, I can understand that. I, for one, never expected Ami to go wandering off like that."
"She is very interested in those gadgets and such, isn't she?"
"True. True. Apparently, it is something of a... calling for her. In fact, that is something that surprised the doctor as well."
"Oh?"
"Apparently, he was impressed that someone so young wasn't about to 'abuse science' or some such thing...." she trailed off.
In what seemed to be a moment of utter stillness, a realization percolated in Soun's mind. "That's it!"
"What is 'it', dear?"
"I was trying to remember why I didn't know much of Serizawa, and now I have it. You remember when the man moved into the neighborhood?"
"Now that you mention it, yes I do. Wasn't he staying by himself and living on his own then, as much as now?"
"Exactly! Remember, he tended to remark about wanting to be left alone. And there are rumors that there are some people poking aronund his place...."
With her expression turning into a mixture of concern and disbelief, Kimiko returned her husband's look, while:
