A few weeks after getting copies of their clothing, the Dangaioh team had adjusted to life on Ares. They used their DanFighters to scout areas around the planet out for the Voltron force, but never used the might of Dangaioh. Voltron was able to handle the few Robeasts easily enough. Coran called both teams to the command center of the Castle of Lions. The teams saw that their was a group of three people with him and they were carrying large briefcases
“Lanba, I contacted New Lilis and they sent these three to talk to you. I have told them about your past and your reluctance about talking to anyone from Lilis,” Coran said.
“So, why are they here?” Lanba asked.
One of the men stepped forward and looked at the young girl.
“Miss Nom, you are from a point in time that we have very few records of. Hopefully, we can put some rumors to bed from that time. I am Agent Danro Ven of Special Investigations.”
“What rumors?” Lanba asked.
“That the king and queen of Lilis escaped and raised their daughter elsewhere.”
Lanba looked away. “No, the king and queen were killed when Lilis was destroyed. They didn’t raise her.”
“I see. Do you know why Garimoth kidnapped you?”
“Yes. But, that’s still painful for me. It might be ancient history for you, but for me, it was only last month,” Lanba replied.
“I’m sorry. There are some general questions I need to ask you.”
“I’ll tell you want I feel comfortable with. You do realize that there are sever months in my life where I was being altered into what I am now? I can‘t answer everything.”
“Fair enough.”
Danro proceeded to ask various questions about the old Lilis. He was able to gain a lot of information about the old political structure and myths from that time. He decided to finish the questions off and leave.
“So what was the princess like?” Danro asked.
Lanba hesitated and quickly relayed the question to her teammates telepathically. She took a deep breath and nodded.
“I never met her,” Lanba stated.
“What were your feelings about the entire Royal House betraying Lilis?”
“They didn’t. That’s a painful subject. Please let it go,” Lanba said, holding up a hand.
Danro nodded and let Lanba and the Dangaioh team leave. After the four had left the area, Danor turned to Coran with a pensive expression on his face.
“She hid something. He hid something big. If you hadn’t told me about that link they shared, I would not have caught on to the fact that they were compiling answers as a group. It seemed to only happen when the royal family was brought up,” Danro stated.
“Why? Why would she do that?” Keith asked.
Nanny looked at Allura and then thought about her previous conversation with Lanba. She chuckled a bit and shook her head.
“Something funny, Nanny?” Coran asked.
“I have an idea why she did, but if it’s true, I can see why should want to hide it. She‘s not the same person that she was before Tarsan worked on her. She‘s linked to those other three and it looks like Mia is the one in charge of them. I have to wonder about the other three, if what I think of Lanba is correct, then those others might also have stuff in their past just as wild,” Nanny answered.
The others looked at each other in confusion and Nanny just laughed to herself.
“Princess, please come with me. Let’s leave the men to talk this out,” Nanny said.
The two women left, leaving eight confused men behind. Danro tapped one of his men on the shoulder.
“Follow her, but keep hidden. Report back what you find out.”
The man nodded and quickly left. He soon found the two women approaching the Dangaioh Team.. Lanba was leaning on a banister and looking out over the fields.
“Regrets about not telling them?” Mia asked.
Lanma nodded. “It won’t do any good anyway. I’m what Tarsan turned me into, not what I was.”
“It will come out, Princess Lanba Nom of the Royal House of Lilis,” Nanny said.
Lanba’s head jerked up and she spun around.
“How did you find out? I thought I was more careful!”
“Your story of Shazzara joining the Bunker and trying to kill you,” Nanny replied. “Do the rest of you have stuff in your past like that?”
The group looked at each other and then turned to face Nanny and Allura.
“Well, my name was originally Barius, but my father sent me to Doctor Tarsan to be turned into a weapon. I refused to kill Roll and he labeled me a traitor. I’ve been Pai Thunder ever since. If you must know, my father was Garimoth himself.”
Allura and Nanny stared in disbelief at Pai. Roll gave an amused snort and shook his head.
“I was the leader of the resistance on Latecia against Garimoth’s forces until Burst and Flash betrayed me. They shoved a knife into me and killed me and then framed me. Doctor Tarsan was able to revive me and altered me along the way. Other than Mia, who has never regained her full memories, we were all tied in some way to rulers in one form or another. My guess is that Pai was supposed to be the one leading us and not Mia. Mia’s personality was stronger than what Tarsan and Garimoth expected and Pai‘s current personality is what she truly is without trying to live up to the expectations of her father. Other than Mia, we‘ve gained our memories back and pretty much broken any sort of programming that was done to us.”
“You four are a political disaster if your true history comes to light,” Allura said.
“Why do you think we wanted to keep quiet about it?” Lanba asked. “It’s not going to anyone any good to know. My people have gotten along fine without me so far, they can get along without me now.”
The man who had followed Nanny and Allura quickly left. He didn’t care if there was any more information forthcoming, he had a duty to do. He quickly made it back to Danro, who was only with his other assistant. The Voltron Force had left earlier. He gave the brief report on what he had overheard. Danro cover his face with his hand and sighed heavily.
“Never met her? I didn’t ask if she was her? Keep quiet. We have to report to the council about this situation,” Danro said. “Allura is right. That group is a political disaster waiting to happen.”
“What do we do about Lanba? I mean she is the princess.”
“We leave that for the council to decide. I don’t think we could get her to leave anyway. That link they all have is going to be a problem. She instinctively defers to Mia Alice. They mentioned Latecia. If Roll Kran was a resistance leader during the time that the Bunker had attacked, he might be in their database somewhere. I would like to know more about who we‘re dealing with.”
“And Pai Thunder?”
Danro frowned and shook his head. “She said it herself, her father called her a traitor because she wouldn’t a kill a friend and then tried to kill her. She should be okay. Let‘s leave before they show up. They are all psionically active, I really don‘t want my mind read.”
Danro and his two men headed for the starport and boarded their craft. They took off and headed to New Lilis to make their report and send a missive off to get old records from Latecia about Roll Kran.
