They hadn't expected to see what they were seeing.
Whaka-whaka-whaka-whaka-whaka-whaka-whaka-whaka-whaka-KATHWACK!
Aerith posed for a moment, one arm half-extended forward, the other arm behind her still rotating her staff at a blurring pace. Sephiroth hit the ground on one arm and his knees, bringing the other up to wipe blood from his mouth.
"I've killed you once," said Sephiroth, shoving himself up to his feet in a single move. "You are already dead."
"So are you," pointed out Aerith with a gentle smile, stopping her spin of the staff to bring it into a two-handed attack stance. "Shall we dance?"
Sephiroth opened his mouth to say something when he instead snapped his head backwards to avoid someone's combat boot hitting him. His neck was therefore extended for Tifa's arm to catch it, and when she stopped and pivoted - the momentum was transferred to a throw.
"Mind if I cut in?" asked Cloud in mid-leap, bringing his sword into play.
Sephiroth brought his own blade into play, blocking the strike but getting knocked back by the force. When he stopped he noticed he had four people facing him from the cardinal points.
"BEAT RUSH!" attacked Tifa.
As the attack caught Sephiroth and briefly tossed him into the air, he noticed that the remaining people were pacing to keep him in the center. Well, he'd just not fall.
"LUNAR RAVE!" attacked Red XIII, jumping up and slamming down atop a dazed Sephiroth.
"OMNISLASH!" continued Cloud, coming forward in his own turn.
Ami mumbled something in her sleep about all the noise, and tried to burrow under the covers.
Why did they have to get this noisy?
"The two new gals gonna work out?" asked Slith.
"I dunno myself," admitted Druul. "One's clumsy as hell and the other's got a temper like a wounded chimera."
Slith shook his head. "Well, they're the best we can do. Any idea who they are?"
"Nope," said Druul. "Them slavers had some weird stuff. Alchemy stuff. Don't understand none of it meself. Having Doc look at it when he gets by."
"I don't think I've ever seen a clumsy Viera before," admitted Slith. "That bad?"
"I'm keepin' her away from the crockery," said Druul. He shook his head, causing his long floppy ears to swing around. "WAY away from the crockery."
"So, no names?" asked Slith, cocking his head as he heard something breaking off in another room.
"No names," admitted Druul. "I took to callin' 'em 'Trippy' and 'Torchy' for lack of anything else to call 'em. One's falling over her own feet, and the other keeps staring at torches and stuff. Might be one of them there pyromaniac types. They can work for food and board if I can ever get a honest day's work here at me-"
