Takato's Wonderful Friends: On a treasure hunt [Episode 194907]

by Shritistrang

"And what happened then?" I asked.

"Well, Captain Jack's now living with us," Takato shrugged while the rain around us continued to fall.

"In your house? But do your parents mind? And if your friends all live with you, do they all have their own bed?"

"Um, usually, they sleep in sleeping bags on my room's floor. Or maybe they go over to Ami's apartment and sleep at her place. Or I sleep at Ami's place and they can sleep in my bed."

"Can you tell me more about your friends?" I asked inquiringly.

Takato nodded.

Takato owns a red box that is usually placed underneath his bed. In this box, he's storing not only his most valuable Digimon cards, but also several other things that are important to him. One of those things was an actual, ancient treasure map. He was very proud to be its owner.

And when he proclaimed that he wanted to go on a treasure hunt the next Sunday, everyone was getting pretty excited.

Takato didn't really know where the treasure was buried, but since the map was showing many trees, he assumed that it had to be in the park. And since the park was big, they decided to leave early in the morning, right after having breakfast. That way, they had the whole day to search.

And so it happened. Sunday morning came, and they left for the park. Takato and Gohan were pulling a heavy trolley, in which they had put their digging tools: A spade, a shovel and a bucket. A picnic basket was also standing on the trolley, filled with sandwiches and lemonade.

"I still think this treasure hunt is a waste of time," Ami spoke up. "I really don't believe that anyone would have buried a treasure in the park, and nobody has found it until now. But I don't want to spoil your fun, boys!" She smiled.

She was wearing a pale blue sundress today, as well as a straw hat against the hot sun. When Tails saw her like that, he frowned and said: "I don't think those is the right clothes for a treasure hunt."

"Right or wrong, I think Ami looks nice like this," Gohan answered back as he admired Ami with a blush.

Captain Jack was also wearing different clothes. Ami told him that she would feel very uncomfortable if he would walk around in public with his normal pirate outfit. So she gave him her father's old suit, and a pair of preppy shoes. Except for his usual bandana, Jack looked almost like a gentleman.

He wasn't quite as pleased with his look as Ami was. "It's not really my style," he grumbled. "I'm just happy she didn't pour some perfume over me..."

While Takato and Gohan pulled the trolley, the others talked about the treasure. They couldn't quite agree on what the treasure could be.

"Maybe it's a huge bowl of pudding somebody buried in the park," Guilmon assumed and licked his red lips.

"No, I think it might be a Swiss army knife," Tails spoke up. "With three blades, a corkscrew and a pair of scissors." Like usual, the two-tailed fox was thinking very practical.

"It's gold, of course!" Jack protested. "Haven't you heard? All significant pirate treasures consisted of a huge amount of gold."

But Guilmon wasn't satisfied with that. "It COULD be a bowl of pudding," he considered. "Maybe somebody walked through the park to eat pudding, and then he changed his mind and buried the bowl so he could come back later to eat it."

Ami shook her head with a sigh. "You know, I would be happy if that treasure was a new textbook... I lost one of mine a few days ago and I still wasn't able to find it."

The others groaned when hearing that.

Right after they reached the entrance of the park, Guilmon made a suggestion: "How about we eat what's in the picnic basket now? A very important part of the treasure hunt would already be accomplished, and we could concentrate on the more important part."

Takato agreed: "Yeah, and pulling an empty basket is much easier than pulling a full basket."

Ami was against it. "We just had breakfast, how can you be hungry again?"

But the others didn't listen and searched for a nice place where they could eat their sandwiches. And shortly afterwards, the whole basket was empty.

Ami had brought a blanket from her apartment and lay down on it to bask in the sun.

"I think the sun will do my tan good," she explained to Guilmon.

"Your what?" Guilmon asked in a surprised voice.

"My tan! Don't you know what that is?"

"Oh, of course!" Guilmon quickly replied. "I had something like that some time ago."

Ami groaned. "Oh, Guilmon! My tan, that's my skin!"

Guilmon was embarrassed and murmured: "Oh yeah, you're right, I just forgot..." He looked at her closely and then asked: "But... is there something wrong with your skin?"

Ami just rolled her eyes and turned around.

Guilmon walked over to his friends and whispered: "Guys, I'm worried about Ami... she's saying strange stuff about her skin."

Ami had heard him and sighed: "Oh, stop that already, Guilmon! You're driving me nuts!"

Guilmon felt helpless. He didn't know why Ami was so upset.

But Jack patted his broad back and whispered: "Don't worry, mate, I already figured that there's something strange about Ami..." And he chuckled.

Meanwhile, Takato was walking around and looked at the trees. He was getting more and more excited, until he finally exclaimed: "Guys, I think we finally found the place!"

"What?" Tails asked. "WHat did we found? What do you mean?"

"The treasure! We found the place where the treasure is buried!"

Now everyone was standing up and looked at the map, which Takato had placed on the grass. Only Ami stayed on her blanket.

There were many crosses, lines and curves on the map. Trees, houses and paths were clearly visible, as well as a river. In one corner of the map, they could see a big skull with crossbones. The treasure was marked as a red dot between two big trees.

It was a very old treasure map, approximately one week old, to be honest. Takato had needed an entire afternoon to draw it.

The friends were looking at the map, compared it with the surroundings and shook their heads. They couldn't find too many similarities.

Gohan ran once around the park, and when he came back, he shook his head again and said: "I dunno, I dunno... I'm afraid it doesn't look like your map at all, Takato!"

But Takato insisted that this had to be the right place. "Don't forget that this treasure map is very old. Who knows what happened in that time?"

Guilmon agreed. "Many things can happen in a week. I remember that a week ago, I had a craving for chocolate cake. And now I would prefer a bowl of pudding."

"And where are the houses?" Tails asked.

"Maybe there was an earthquake around here last week," Takato pondered. "And it swallowed all of the buildings."

"That's a brilliant idea, Takato!" Jack said commendatorily.

Takato nodded proudly. "Jack, maybe you can ask around if there was an earthquake here last week..."

Jack looked around, but couldn't find anyone. And as he didn't like to take unnecessary walks, he insisted: "Of course there was an earthquake here! The houses must have vanished somehow, right?"

Tails still wasn't convinced. "And what about the river?"
