It really wasn’t Satubori’s day. In the aftermath of the Nine Tailed Fox’s attack on Konoha two days ago he had been forced out of retirement and had to deal with getting Konoha back on its feet. For the most part things had been going as well as they could be but there was something, or rather someone; that still needed to be taken care of. That person being Naruto Namikaze, son of his successor and sadly predecessor Minato Namikaze and Jean Namikaze whose maiden name was Jean Grey.
It really hurt Satubori’s heart to think of the little boy who was orphaned just hours after he had been born. His mother Jean had died due to a combination of her illness, complications during birth, and what could only be described as ‘psychic backlash’ due to Minato dying. Minato had died shortly after sealing the Fox into his newborn son due to the side-effects of using the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. What angered Satubori the most about this situation is that the civilians of Konoha were seeing the little boy who had lost so much as the demon and not as Naruto. Luckily most of the ninja and the ninja clans gave a grudging respect towards Naruto for his status as a living prison for the fox.
But Satubori didn’t have time to dwell on the past as he had to come to a decision. While the people knew that the fox was sealed into a baby they didn’t know Naruto’s name yet. Should he reveal the boy’s parentage or keep it hidden for a time? On the one hand, the citizens might no longer hate Naruto if they knew he was the son of their beloved leader. On the other hand, Naruto could quickly grow up spoiled and arrogant. Also, the citizens might still hate Naruto regardless of his heritage. Regardless of those outcomes Naruto would have a target painted on his back due to the hatred that Rock had with his father and they would just love to end the Namikaze line.
Walking over to the crib in his office that held the little boy Satubori picked up Naruto and sat back down in his chair. Looking at the little boy sleeping peacefully in his arms Satubori almost couldn’t believe the power the boy possessed. Not only did Naruto have the power of the most powerful demon ever known slumbering within him but he also most likely had his mother’s bloodline as well. Although Satubori knew of Jean Grey’s origins from another world he had always liked the girl and viewed the ‘mutants’ of her world as people developing bloodlines.
However much Satubori liked Jean he knew that he was a tad scared at the thought of the power she wielded and never wanted to face an enemy with such power. Once he had seen her training her powers with Minato and had been honestly freighted by what he saw. That day he saw her lift multiple several ton boulders 50 feet into the air while flying in the air as well. After making the boulders circle around her she then proceeded to destroy them all. Some she mentally pounded into gravel while others she exploded from the inside out. While that day had caused him to fear her bloodline he was also comforted by the fact that such a power would protect Konoha.
Satubori knew that he had once again spent far too long reminiscing on things that had been. Putting his mind to work Satubori came up with an idea that would best help the Namikaze heir. Satubori decided that for the time being Naruto would have to go under a different name for his protection. Once he was strong enough to defend himself or his bloodline awoke then Naruto Uzumaki could gain knowledge of his past and then after that regain his true name.
