"Um . . . who are you?"
The Matron, Euphoria and Muoti stopped on hearing that voice, they having just arrived at the main courtyard of Hinata-sou. The three quickly fixed their attention on the lone questioner, who had just stepped out the front door to enjoy a day at the horse races. "Miss Konno Mitsune, I presume?" the Matron mused as she drifted forward on her floating skateboard to gaze intently in the freelance writer's eyes.
Mitsune jolted, her body shivering, as the older woman's eyes seemed to bore right through to the core of her brain, she finding what was lurking there quite wanting. "Y-yes . . .?" she sputtered as her mind tried to assimilate what she was now seeing. Old woman on a flying skateboard? Some American punk girl with bleached hair? Black girl, too? What the hell is going on here?! "Wh-who are you?!"
The Matron's eyes narrowed. "Room 205, am I correct?"
Mitsune jolted, her eyes going wide with panic as her mind registered that tonally flat question. "Er, y-yes . . . "
"And the other occupied rooms are 201, 301, 302 and 304, correct?"
"H-hai . . .!"
A smile then crossed the older woman's face. "Excellent. We'll make sure we won't look into those rooms before we move in. Come along, girls."
"Okay!" Euphoria and Muoti chant together.
They headed inside. Mitsune watched them go, her jaw hanging from her head as her mind tried to wrap around what she had just seen, and then she found herself gazing once more into the sky where Narusegawa Naru had knocked Urashima Keitarou earlier. "Could they be . . .?" she sputtered.
In her room, Naru perked on hearing strange voices echoing from the floor below. Looking up from her books, she then rose, heading into the hallway so she could proceed downstairs and see what was going on. Just as she was about to descend, the shocked scream of one Maehara Shinobu from the kitchen propelled her into a run. Just as she hit the main floor landing, she stopped, her jaw hitting the floor on seeing who was standing there. A second later, she was joined by Aoyama Motoko and Kaolla Su. "Who . . .?"
A shivering Shinobu turned to stare at her housemates, she pointing hesitantly at the three Yizibajohei. "Naru-sempai . . . Keitarou-sempai just welcomed these th-three people in as new t-tenants . . .!"
The others exchanged stunned looks.
A detailed explanation later . . .
"YOU'RE ALL FROM ANOTHER PLANET?!"
"Yes, that's correct. And there's no need to shout, you know. We can hear you all quite clearly," the Matron said before she took a sip of the tea Shinobu had made for them.
Except for Kaolla -- who was busy eating some bananas -- the other tenants exchanged shocked looks, and then Naru leaned over to stare intently at them. "So because this Destructo guy originally came from our planet, Moroboshi Ataru of all people on Earth was selected to go there and be 'gifted' by this Great Crystal of yours! So when he became this super-lothario you call 'Rake,' he also got himself a sister in this Infinity. And SHE was the one who banished all the alien mushrooms in Tomobiki and sent that Lum girl back to her home planet! And now, because your friend Courtesan took pity on the dumb jerk after I had to punish him for being a perv, Keitarou's on his way there now to become yet another of your kind . . .?!"
"That's about right," the Matron said as she gazed evenly at Naru. "Sit down and calm down, Miss Naru. You're not doing your blood pressure any good by ranting and raving like that. If you were the Eternal Archaist or the Preacher, you could survive it. But not as a normal."
Naru jerked, and then she sank into her chair. Seeing that these strangers from a different star weren't reacting in the usual way when it came to their inept, hapless manager, Motoko decided to take the offensive. "You must bring Urashima back to us!" She slammed her hand on the table separating the Terrans from the Yizibajohei. "You must NOT expose him to this Crystal of yours!"
The visitors from afar blinked. "Why?" Muoti asked.
"Sounds to me like they don't want to see Mister Keitarou become so powerful, any fight scene they want to start up won't go so good for them," Euphoria mused, a wry smile crossing her face, and then she looked at Shinobu. "Except for Miss Shinobu here. She's got a good heart in her."
The Matron nodded in agreement. "Yes, that is quite true, isn't it?"
Hearing that, the girl in question started to blush. "Arigatou . . .!"
"NO!" Motoko snapped. She was inwardly cringing; had Urashima actually told these aliens that she and Naru ENJOYED hitting him for no good reason? "You people don't understand! If Urashima's bad luck and lechery are spread out over your planet, who knows what could happen next!"
"Karma is karma, Miss Motoko. No one governs it," the Matron explained. "As for his 'lechery' as you call it, if Mister Keitarou actually did have some, spreading it over the males of our world might actually be a good thing."
Confused blinks responded. "Why'd you say that?" Mitsune asked.
The answer was no less detailed. Hearing that, the older tenants' jaws hit the floor. "You mean to say that for the most part, all the guys on your planet don't bother getting girlfriends because they enjoy fighting so much, they don't ever get aroused?!" Mitsune recapped what had been said.
"That's right," the Matron affirmed with a nod, a tired look crossing her face. "Hence, the reason the Crystal has allowed Rake to return. Many females on Yiziba would flock to him in an instant if they wish to eventually have children. Hopefully, that'll convince some other males to lay off the fight scenes and start doing pillow scenes. But if it doesn't . . . "
"At least Rake shouldn't mind all the potential companionship he'll be getting in the future," Muoti said with a grin.
Euphoria laughed. Motoko and Naru both looked quite frazzled. Kaolla was still eating bananas. Shinobu and Mitsune exchanged concerned looks. "Maybe it's a good thing Keitarou-kun didn't go to this place before Ataru-kun did," the latter said. "Could you imagine him as this Rake?"
"Sempai . . . " the latter fretted.
Everyone then perked as footsteps were heard. Turning to the main doors, everyone then blinked on seeing Courtesan walk in, she accompanied by . . .
