The girls just stared and said "Who are you?"
Keitarou, who currently sported the worn corduroy pants, button shirt, flyer's jacket and fedora hat of the Archaeologist, grinned as he gazed on the other woman. "I'm the Archaeologist. It's the power the Great Crystal bestowed upon me then. Think of me like a souped-up version of Indiana Jones."
The girls just stared some more. Then one pointed. "Who is she?"
Keitarou grinned and said "This is my twin sister who is called Gateway."
"Gateway?" asked Motoko.
"Yes." said Keitarou. "She has the power to open gateways that can lead anywhere. Even parallel/alternate versions of worlds. It's really intense. You can Slide through the gateway to other versions of any planet you're on."
"Slide?" asked Naru.
"Yeah." said Keitarou. "Those who Slide are called Sliders. The process is called Sliding. A friend of mine called Quinn Mallory told me all that. He's a Slider. Though he Slides through the use of a technological device and got lost. He and his friends are going from parallel Earth to parallel Earth. He's trying to find his way home."
"How'd he get lost?" asked the girls.
"He advanced his Timer, the technological device he is using to Slide with, and fried the part that would have returned him home." said Keitarou. "That's the danger in using a technological to Slide with. It can always get fried, you're lost. Gateway doesn't ever get lost. And she doesn't have a time limit with her either."
"Time limit?" asked the girls.
"Yes." said Keitarou. "When Quinn and his friends land on a world, they have a certain amount of time before they can activate their Timer. It can vary by quite a margin. If they miss the Slide, they're stuck on that world twenty-something years. Gateway doesn't have that problem."
"Why doesn't she tell us this herself?" asked Naru getting angry. "Is she your slave girl?"
"What?" asked Keitarou. "No. She's just mute."
