The Great Will had gone to work, and had utilized the path of least resistance - further modifying the event that it had already instigated. Though the law of unintended consequence came into play, events shifted towards more in keeping with the already stated desires.
Now things had gotten truly strange. Ranma looked around and saw that things looked somehow provincial. Sort of 1950ish. There were a lot of girls around, most of whom looked to be wearing odd collars of some sort.
Realizing, just from the chokers/collars, that something was off again. Ranma wasn't sure what else had changed though, and maybe it had had the desired effect?
"...so if one or all of you would marry Ranma, the future of the Anything Goes school would be secure," said Soun to his three daughters.
"I do wish you had a picture of this boy," grumped Akane.
"I hope he's older," said Kasumi. "Younger men don't have the sense of responsibility and desire for stability that they get when they're older."
"How much money has this guy got?" asked Nabiki.
"Well, Genma is highly placed within the hierarchy - though he generally avoids his official duties and lets his staff handle the details," said Soun.
"Oh?" Nabiki got a little more interested. "How high up?"
"He's the Duke of Azabu Juuban," said Soun, avoiding anything that might have given away his thoughts of hooking a fish and reeling it in.
"Hmmmmm," hmmmmed a thoughtful Nabiki. "Letting his staff handle the office work while he pursues martial skills. Very traditional. Any more family?"
Soun nodded, having the details ready as checking into the Saotome fertility was expected. "Yes, he has a younger sister named Ranko. Due to some problems that Genma experienced during our training together, he has only taken one wife and has a small family."
"That also is not that uncommon within the nobility," observed Nabiki.
Kasumi adopted a thoughtful expression. A duke, eh?
Akane looked slightly intrigued. "Spends a lot of time working on martial skills. Hmmmm."
