Sarutobi took a puff of his pipe before he said, “The mission for you today is to head to Far Branch 4 near the Kanoha/Iwa boarder and get the status reports from the outpost’s commander. This mission is C-Ranked due to the possibility of bandit attacks and the remote possibility of enemy ninja attack. Do you Team 10 accept this mission knowing the risks involved?” With that last sentence Sarutobi looked hard into the eyes of each member of Team 10.
Naruto moved a steep closer to his ‘adopted grandfather’ and said, “Don’t worry Old Man. Team 10 can handle a few messily bandits or one or two weak ninja.” Sarutobi almost smiled when he saw Asuma grin, Ino nod her head with an air that said the matter was closed, and Shikamaru just muttered about how troublesome blonds were. Sarutobi handed Asuma a paper and seal to show the outpost commander that they were the real deal before dismissing them.
Asuma gave team 10 two hours to get all the gear they would need due to the face that Far Branch 4 was a week away walking for a civilian or 4 days for a ninja moving at regular mission speed. Before the three split up Shikamaru handed Ino and Naruto a sealing scroll each that he had created for them to store their gear. When Ino asked why he had created the scrolls Shikamaru replied that they were less ‘troublesome’ than having to carry and worry about backpacks for missions.
Before Naruto went to his apartment to pack he handed Ino a set of spare keys requested that Ino ask her mother if she could water his plants while they were gone. Ino smiled and said that she would be glad to ask and then hurried off to her family home. It was a quick thing for Ino to pack because she had already set up a ‘mission pack’ beforehand and just needed to transfer the things from the pack to the scroll. However, much to Ino’s embarrassment, her father overheard her relay Naruto’s request to her mother and decided to give Ino a lecture about what she was not allowed to do with her friend while on a mission or ever. Needless to say it was a very red faced Ino that met up with her three teammates at the gate.
