It was late in the afternoon when Team 10 arrived at Far Branch 4. Unfortunately, the small outpost in the beginning stages of being attacked by rogue Iwa Ninjas. You see, After the Treaty of Iron was signed after the Kanoha/Iwa War there were a lot of unhappy Iwa Ninjas. These Ninja were especially furious that Iwa lost the Land of Rain and the Land of Grass as tribute states. About 150 Jonin and 300 Chunin left Iwa to form a group of renegades known as Igneous. Their goal was to get Rain and Grass back under the control of Iwa. However, before Igneous’ could really start on their goal they would need to get rid of Far Branch 4 in such a way that Kanoha would not continue to support Rain or Grass.
Into this madness Team 10 lunged in to help their comrades who were desperately trying to hold their own against the full force of Igneous. Asuma would have preferred to not have his genin team with him as he entered the fight, but he knew that their fellow ninja would need all the help they could get and his teammates would never forgive themselves if they had to retreat. Just before Asuma prepared to summon some monkeys to help even the odds a bit he yelled out, “Alright team, attack pattern blitz Alpha!”
With that command Ino and Shikamaru got ready to move just after Naruto unleashed his Mass Exploding Shadow Kunai Clone attack into the flank of the enemy. Naruto and Asuma, who had his trench knives out, both rushed into the body of the enemy formation. Shikamaru was grabbing the enemies with his Shadow bind jutsu and then letting them go just before Asuma delivered the killing blow. While this was going on Ino was using her father’s Mind/body confusion attack to paralyze and confuse the enemy so that Naruto, who was levitating about two inches off the ground, could easily break their necks or stab them in the heart.
Things were starting to turn against the Kanoha ninja. A combination of Naruto’s opening attack and Team 10 cohesive attack pattern had initially swung things in Kanoha’s favor. This was accomplished by the confusing of Igneous’ ninja as to the number and strength of Kanoha’s reinforcements and moral rising among the defenders at the thought of help. However now that the initial shock was off, Igneous’ commander had quickly rallied his remaining numerous troops for a second strike.
It was ten minutes into the battle that something happened to cause time to stop for Naruto. He was in the middle of a group of Igneous Chunin methodically sending them on an all expense paid one way trip to visit the after life so he didn’t notice what was happening until it was to late to do anything about it. One of the igneous ninja used an A-class Earth release jutsu to cause a huge boulder to be sent flying at Ino. Ino saw the boulder coming at her and tried to dodge, but due to the fact that the ground she was fighting on had become muddy she couldn’t escape in time. She tripped and as she fell the boulder landed on her crushing her left arm and smacking her head causing her to start bleeding. Naruto saw this and let out a horrible scream.
