After all, from what he'd been told, one could change things in reality in simple ways like getting an extra scar on a person, make major changes such as making it so that a bulky guy was 'now' born to become a shapely girl, or simply destroy the whole universe.
Knowing that made it easy for him to agree with the request for him to check this out. His knowledge on the technical bits wasn't all that great, but he knew enough to recognize threats. But his main objective in this was to determine what the situation around the energy was like. If it was a simple accident, or natural event, it'd be easy enough to handle. Then again, if those around there were using it for some nasty purpose, he'd have to be ready. Not that he hoped that they would be mean, but he'd spent too much time around the 'Batman types' to be unaware of the need in being careful about such things.
That meant that he'd have to sneak around the place, find out what he could, and work it from there. Hopefully, the people of the Higurashi shrine would be helpful enough. If they were normal everyday people, he'd just have to work around them. Of course, if they were actually empowered, then they'd have to have some clue that something was going on in their home.
But then he wasn't exactly just some dumb martial artist. Beyond his ability to slip to the roof and hop from building to building faster than some people could drive, he was rather skilled in sizing up situations, at least where fights were likely to be involved. Handling superpowered women and girls wearing slinky outfits who were 'interested' him wasn't something that he'd ever gotten skilled with, but he had managed to take one look at a roomful of thugs and know how best to take them out.
His only hope was that there wouldn't be some sort of suprise waiting for him there. All too often he'd come across some building where strange things had happened, and find some sort of mystical cult, or a 'mad scientist' type, and he'd be in for a headache of a fight. Much as he was sure that he could handle it, he would rather get something nice and clean, so that he could deal with it simply enough. It wasn't to say that he was unwilling to deal with the major threats, but he just had a bit much on his plate at the moment, and would have preferred to get a bit of a milk run for this trip.
Fortunately, the weather on this night was nice enough, and he managed to set a comfortable pace, heading to what he hoped would be a simple investigation, while:
