Setsuna's New Life - Invaders: Communication [Episode 196679]

by Kestral

CNN's signal was abruptly interrupted.

"Attention, plural native sentient of Earth world," said a mechanical-sounding voice as a picture of bright flowers covered everything, "extended tribal grouping designated 'United States' was determined to be threat to species outside Earth world. Once target grouping is reduced to nonthreat levels, our presence will removed be." The field of flowers changed to a beach scene made a little odd by the presence of two moons. "If other group attack does, threat status extended to originating tribe-extension. Regret expression of life loss extending."

"They've got to be kidding," said Ami. "Do they think anyone's going to buy that?"

"Wow," said Usagi. "I wonder what the Americans did this time."

"They've brought it on themselves," said Rei, still a little pale and shaky from seeing the scenes that had played out. "Maybe it was their nuclear testing."

The CNN normal group faded back in. "Signal's back? Okay. We've been told that all transmissions out of the continental US are offline. We'll have more details as they become available."

"I was watching 'Cops' the other day, it's so dangerous over there," said Minako. "Maybe it was something they did."

Ami blinked and stared at her friends.

"All flights in and out of the US have been cancelled," said the announcer. "Emergency meetings in the Japanese parliament have been called regarding what to do about this development."

"Not much we can do," offered Makoto. "Japan only has a self-defense force."

"We now go to Shigeru Aida, JAXA consultant," said the announcer. "Shigeru?"

"Well, Motoki, we've been monitoring the situation as well as we could," said Shigeru from what was obviously a rooftop. "Unfortunately as soon as a satellite goes over the USA, the invaders eliminate it. What we've been able to determine is that seventy four of the Landers, those are the ones estimated at roughly nine-hundred and ten tons, have landed so far. Further, cityships estimated at well over two hundred-thousand tons have been sighted. Best estimates so far indicate nine of these have landed, though of course due to the blitzkrieg style tactics and jamming of signals going into the area - there may have been more of both."

"Shigeru, have you seen the broadcast from the aliens? Your thoughts?" asked the announcer.

"None that I'd care to voice at this juncture," said Shigeru. "There has been speculation here at the Japanese space agency though - as the pictures we've been able to get before satellites were destroyed show very different designs for the landers compared to the city-ships. We may be dealing with more than one alien race."
