“I don't get it!” Ranma suddenly shouted as he grabbed his head in frustration.
The other two turned to the pigtailed boy.
“It's just an ordinary bike!”
An indignant look appeared on Nuku Nuku's face. “No it's not!”
“...?”
“It's not an ordinary bike...” she continued.
It wasn't? The other two unknowingly leaned forward to hear the secret of the ordinary-looking bicycle that could probably outrun a train. Both had different reasons for hearing what she had to say. But neither had ideas that could be considered sane. Case in point, Orion was wondering where to hide the bike so that its crude power source (that must be hidden somewhere on the deceptively simple frame) could later be rewired to create a disguised bomb for the enemies' base.
His worries were wasted.
“It's Ryunosuke's ordinary bike!” the red-haired girl concluded.
- Thud -
“That's not what I meant!” Ranma shouted angrily, simultaneously spitting out the dirt that he had just eaten. Orion stood to the side, not sure whether to be amused or worried about his subordinate's antics.
“It isn't?” the girl asked in confusion.
“It's a special technique, right?”
“?” Nuku Nuku had a cheerful grin on her face but she said nothing, as she failed to comprehend what the pigtailed boy was saying.
Ranma reached forward and grabbed her shoulders. “Teach me!” he said with a serious look on his face.
“Eh?!” the red-haired girl cried in surprise. She thought about it for a moment before she nodded happily. “I've never taught anyone before, but I'll try my best!”
A dashing grin appeared on Ranma's face as well. Meanwhile, Orion was starting to have bad feelings about selecting this girl for his army. He forcefully shoved it aside to focus on the matter at hand. “Nuku Nuku...”
All conversation ceased.
Ranma turned and glared at the tomcat.
Nuku Nuku also turned to the gray cat, but with an expression of surprise on her face. She opened her mouth to say something...
...And then the school bell rang.
“Papa-san! Wait! I'm not late!” the girl shouted as she knocked Ranma's hands off of her shoulders and dashed off. A dust cloud lingered in the air, marking her exit as the girl disappeared into the school.
“It appears that we failed...”
“What're you talking about? I got training, right?” Ranma asked in confusion.
“Have you forgotten why we came here in the first place?”
“...” Ranma remained quiet.
“Youma?” Orion irritably supplied.
“Oh...oh yeah. I guess we can ask her during the training,” Ranma said as he sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
Orion was silent for a moment. “That would probably be the next best time to find her,” he finally concluded.
“So uhh, what do we do now?” Ranma asked as he put his hands behind his head and casually headed for the exit.
Orion didn't reply for a long moment. Something was amiss. He looked around before asking, “Ranma, aren't you forgetting something?”
“Like?”
“Meow.”
“Huh?” What kind of response was that?
He found out soon enough.
“Skipping school are we?” someone behind him asked with a semi-serious tone of voice.
Ranma stilled before he slowly turned to the truant officer waiting beside the school gate with a relaxed posture. There was a hint of tenseness in the man's stance, indicating that the officer was ready to chase him if he ran. Ranma was feeling a bit lazy though, he didn't have the urge to outrun the authorities at the moment.
“...Heh, naah.” the pigtailed boy drawled, holding his hands up to show that he wasn't out to cause trouble.
“Then what are you waiting for?” The officer asked as he tilted his head toward the school.
“...”
