Setsuna's Fault: Akane Vs Ranma [Episode 197851]

by Kestral

Akane was big and tough and powerful.

Unfortunately for her, despite that she was bigger than Ranma, Ranma was no slouch in those departments.

Ranma DID have a big advantage though. Since breaking out of the Yakuza location, Akane had been mainly focussed on scavenging and surviving. Ranma had not had nearly the difficulties Akane had in those regards, and had been practicing his Art quite a lot.

When someone landed atop her head, Akane swung both arms up to grab. When someone jumped behind her and put something small and squirming down what remained of the clothing she'd been issued by the Yaks - she reacted in a manner more in keeping with a teenage girl than a trained martial artist.

"YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH GET IT OUT GET IT OUT!"
scuttle scuttle
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

About the third time the ox-girl went racing around the clearing, Ranma was actually beginning to feel sorry for the gal. Food thief or not.

When the little bit of clothing came off in her attempts to grab at the thing while running around, Ranma was tempted to point out that the critter (actually a fairly big but harmless variety of spider) was no longer on her back.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
"YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
"GETITOFF! GETITOFF!"

Ranma held up a finger, trying to interject a comment here.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" KA-WHAM!

Seeing the girl stagger back from impacting the tree, then take a couple of steps before collapsing, Ranma felt unfamiliar stabs of sympathy for the poor creature. Especially when she moaned and clutched a stomach that was growling loud enough for a tiger to be in there. Except that now that she wasn't moving so much, he began putting together that most likely she hadn't been eating at all.

The tree, a fairly sizable fellow who hadn't done anything offensive as far as it could tell, fell over with a groan.

"When was the last time you ate?" asked Ranma in his subtle-as-a-mallet fashion.

"I had some grubs this morning," managed Akane before going limp.

"Aw hell," said Ranma, sighing. "Guess I need to make more stew."

"Here, take a bit of this."

Akane felt the darkness recede a little as something was spoonfed her. Her tastebuds, long dormant, suddenly came to attention and played reveille. FOOD!

Her reaching hand was slapped.

"Slowly," said the voice. A male voice. An unfamiliar male voice. "You eat too much at once - that'll be a whole group of other problems."

Her nose sniffed. Vegetable broth of some kind. Each little dribble of the mixture seemed to shove the darkness away and provide a little more spark of energy.

Finally Akane had enough strength back to manage the Herculean task of opening one eye.

A particularly shaggy-haired boy with a tough build was stirring the pot and poured a little of the fluid into a shallow dish - what might have been a sake cup or something along that line.

Exhausted by the effort, Akane felt the darkness rising up again - but this time with a pleasant warmth radiating from her midsection.

"Ungh," managed Akane, eyes flickering open. Early morning from the look of it.

Memories, muddled and unclear, gave her two more feedings since her last full wakefulness. Then there was the cleaning of stuff that had spilled from her mouth.

With major effort, Akane levered herself up. It was the campsite she'd found with that boy and the stewpot.

There was that boy too. Throwing carrots and potatoes and celery into the air, where he sliced them and diced them. They fell into the pot with plops and splashes.

Akane:
