"The investigation continues, what I present are merely initial impressions and conclusions based on what we have found so far," said another of the fellows.
"Understood," said the lead figure, settling back into his chair. His voice was carefully controlled. Even in the unlikely event that the security measures were countered and someone else were watching, they would see nothing to indicate who these individuals were. Secrets were a way of life for individuals such as this.
The second figure inclined his head, and a third figure stood.
This one was female, and younger, but stood confidently amongst these others. "The subject was able to escape from holding cell S302 because of a vehicular crash that eliminated a relay during a period of peak power use. The resulting 'brownout' lasted 0.7 seconds before systems rerouted power."
"The driver?" asked the lead.
"Initial reports indicate no connection between the escapee and the driver, and a physical exam merely showed signs of exhaustion. Background suggests that overwork and a reliance on over-the-counter stimulants were responsible." The woman paused to see if further questions were forthcoming, when none were voiced she continued. "Subject was resistant to mental programming and normal methods were completely ineffective. There was some indication of initial success using some experimental methods, but loyalty imprinting failed. The subject was scheduled for further attempts as soon as physically possible."
"After it escaped, what then?" asked the lead.
"Subject faked escaping the facility entirely and apparently doubled back into the facility itself. She joined a group of regular slavegirls acquired through more conventional channels. These slavegirls underwent experimental programming and conditioning in a series of tests and were put up for sale normally. During this time we attempted to track the subject, believing that she'd escaped the facility entirely." The woman looked very unhappy admitting this, as well she should.
"If it was a legitimate sale, there should be a trail," said the lead.
"There was, however we are still checking into the various purchasers and it is requiring some effort to get past the security protocols of various retailers and secondary purchasers." The woman shifted uncomfortably as the scrutiny continued.
A fourth member of this group shifted in his chair. "I'm sorry, but this project was not one of mine. What was its importance or who was the subject?"
