"An artificial slave?" asked the fourth member of the group, the one who'd asked the original question. "Haven't others been investigating that sort of program, not without a measurable amount of success?"
"That is true enough...."
"Then why bother with this one?"
"It is what went into her that is the issue. For us, she represents certain advances that we simply don't want to fall into the hands of others."
"In other words, an advanced unit that could quite likely be light years beyond anything that we've already done," the second shadowy figure murmured.
"Beyond the fact that we have also had to expend a good amount of resources to handle her in the first place," commented the man on the screen.
"Basically, yes. And the truth is that not only could we be bothered by the reverse engineering of what makes her up, but she also represents a possible signal to certain... officials who would make it their business to interfere in our affairs."
"Which must not happen."
"Understood," the second speaker replied.
"Unfortunately, there is the fact that there is information within her that we no longer have access to," the woman admitted, a slight clenching of her teeth being her only sign of stress. "Instead of being able to plunge all the depths of what is within her at our leisure, we must do so with all due haste."
"Then I suggest that you do so," the first one to speak told her.
