"Perhaps," said the man. "Perhaps, perhaps indeed. You shouldn't underestimate the Board. No, not wise that. None of its members got where they are through apathy or a lack of cunning. Or conscience."
"Melfina is your creation, Professor Khan," said the woman.
Professor Gwen Khan smiled a little absently, his mind racing ahead to details. "Maybe. Maybe. Perhaps. When we find, monitor maybe."
"Not reclaim her immediately?" asked the woman, her eyes widening a slight amount as she considered that. "You want her to lead you to the treasure."
"Perhaps, perhaps maybe," said the Professor, stroking his goatee.
"Though if she went through the imprinting process, her mind might be so scrambled as to be useless," said the woman.
"In which case making a scene and maybe calling attention to our work, that would be bad," pointed out the Professor. "Bad indeed. Besides, I've an option I might use. Yes."
"So, uh, Melfina," said Ranma.
"Yes?" asked the girl in the flimsy slave outfit.
"So, uhm, what can you do?" asked Ranma. "Though one thing we gotta do is get you a different outfit."
"Really?" asked Melfina, lifting one of the 'loincloth' flaps.
Seeing that she wasn't wearing anything underneath, Ranma put the priority of the clothing up a couple more notches. "Really."
Melfina looked a little uncertain about that.
