That wasn't getting into the Island's Curse, the bizarre experiments in magic, the hidden labs and monitoring rooms, and so on. Those would be revealed in later chapters.
Mamoru had ended up as the single male character in the mix, but as he'd never played this sort of game was fumbling his way through it.
Mimette, on the other hand, had ended up as one of the NPCs - one of the girls who could be "won" through the choices the main character made. Or she was a monster that could be defeated, collected, trained, domesticated.
It was an irony, perhaps, that the fate she'd spun for others was one that she herself had ended up with. Mimette hated irony.
She was hiding now, as she did whenever she could. As Buxom Harpy, she had no arms and that was really cramping her style. Instead she had wings extending from her shoulders, orange fletched wings that matched her hair. Her legs terminated in something like birdfeet, and she could clutch things with those - though the sort of manipulation she could manage was quite limited. Fortunately there seemed to be a lot of fish in the lagoon, and finding food wasn't a problem.
No, the first problem was that whenever she saw Mamoru Chiba she'd experienced a set of feelings and drives that were completely at odds with what SHE wanted. The second problem was that she was not the apex predator on the island. The third problem being that simply flying away from the island didn't work. The map wrapped around.
So she was stuck here until Chiba cleared the game. Because it had been HER game, she knew the objectives necessary to do so. Unfortunately, communicating that was going to be very very difficult.
Mimette swooped over the water, grabbed another fish, and avoided the flailing tentacles of something just under the water. This was just SUCH a pain.
Tellu sketched a quick bow towards Professor Tomoe, or Geramatou if you preferred.
"How goes your progress?" asked the possessed Professor.
"My sentinel plants have spread far through the city," said Tellu. "When she shows up - I will know of it and they will transform into minions that can bring her back to us."
"Excellent," said Professor Tomoe. "I'm counting on you."
