Three's... Accepted? - Lessons: Worried; Mama Conference [Episode 198909]

by Kender

The conference room usually was used for a fairly regular set of meetings in which the school staff would meet in order to discuss any sort of issues. They'd talk to parents about how their students were doing, they'd speak with students about projects, and they'd discuss plans for school events with each other, all in that one room. There wasn't much of a reason to be fancy with the room, considering that it was simply a place to meet when the time called for it.

Fortunately for Satsuki Gokajo, this wasn't a time when anyone wanted to use the room, save for the women in there with her. "You know, it's damn crappy how bad things have gotten screwed up."

"But at least they've settled down for now," Yayoi Sanzenin commented, her expression lightly reassuring as she crossed her long legs under the table.

"I know, but we don't know anything about how the guys wound up so messed up that they had to resort to this... right?"

"Unfortunately, it is still going to take a lot of time for the scientists to figure out much of anything."

"Well, that's just great," grumbled the gym teacher as she grabbed a fist full of her own short blue hair. "I mean, for all we know, that nutjob Kanna could have caused it to happen...."

"This is not Kanna's fault," murmured Kisaragi Ninomai, her golden eyes not showing any real emotion... not that they did much of that in the first place.

"Sorry.... Truth is that I was just coming up with something that would sound really out there."

"I understood," the grey haired chemistry teacher admitted. "Kanna might have the technology to cause such difficulties if she really tried."

"You mean that?"

"Yes. But she is as in the dark as we are."

"And just how can we know that?"

"She contacted me to see if I had any information that could clear it up for her."

Satsuki almost thought that she detected mockery in the other woman's voice, but brushed it aside for the moment. "Okay, there is that. But things aren't exactly real stable right now."

"At least Chitose is safe, right?" asked Uzuki Shitenno as her blonde head turned to glance between her fellow teachers.

"There is that."

"We don't have to worry about him," Kisaragi put in.

"That is for certain," Yayoi agreed, and grinned slightly. "The truth is that he's one of the lucky ones. Still strong and healthy, the perfect image of a cared for boy."

"Unfortunately, that will also place him into difficulty if the wrong people recognize what a resource he is."

"True. But remember, most of that will be done when he settles down with a girl that he cares for."

"Maybe he'll get to be with someone strong," the blue haired woman drawled, and then smirked wildly.

Her comment got a snort from the art teacher. "No, that's stupid. He should go for a cute girl!"

"What? Don't you think that a strong girl can be cute?"

"Absolutely not."

"And why is that?"

"Well, just look at yourself!" Uzuki replied, and giggled at the athletic woman.

"Oh, now I...." Satsuki began... and then started growling. "Why you!"

"At least they're keeping up their spirits... Oh, but what about you, Mutsuki?"

At the window, Mutsuki Ichimonji placed her fingertips against the pane and stared at the rain pattering outside... until she realized that she was being spoken to, and turned to blink in surprise at the others. "I'm sorry. You were saying?"

"Maybe we should apologize."

"What? Why?"

"They were suggesting girls for Chitose to be with. However, you're the one...."

"It's okay. They were only fooling around, right?" the classics teacher said, seemingly without any show of concern.

"Um... of course!" Uzuki chirped uncertainly.

"Uh, what she said," Satsuki muttered, her expression of concern mirroring the blonde's.

"See?" Mutsuki said, smiling slightly. "Besides, I know that what Chitose feels for me is not simply some crush. I know... since I feel the same way...."

"That is good to hear," the school nurse put in.

"Isn't it? I'm just glad that he and I got the chance to talk before all this...."

"Oh?"

"He might wind up in a tight position later. They might push him to see other girls too. But that's okay."

She thought that it might have been best if she said something, but Yayoi couldn't think of anything to say as she saw Mutsuki turn her attention back to the rain outside without really thinking about it, while:
