Screams. That was what he heard as he walked through the blue ring of light into what Lexis called the 'Transworld gate', some kind of amalgam of magic and technology, Ears perking up he followed the sound, reaching down to his side and gripping the hilt of a heavy broad sword as he ran.
'Where is it coming from?'
Gritting his teeth as another scream echoed about the strange area, the dark haired man pushed himself to go faster, ignoring the weight of his dark armor. The screams came again, but closer this time, and intermingled with the sound of...cats? The high pitched scream sounded once more, and he redoubled his efforts to get to the source.
'A woman? No...sounds more like a kid...'
A pair of shields shaped like wings were pulled from under his blood red cape and began to float around him with an innate magic, and he finally saw the source through another ring of blue light. A large man in white clothes was holding a young boy over a pit in a small clearing. The boy was in pretty bad shape already, cuts covering his small body and blue eyes glazed from the pain. The man in white reared back to throw the child into the pit. Eyes narrowing in rage the man reached into a small bag on his belt and wrapped his gauntlet covered hand around a lightly glowing stone. Channeling his ki into the stone, he roared out his command.
"FLASH! Save the boy!"
A young blond girl in of about fifteen burst forward at incredible speeds, held aloft by wings of white, and caught the boy in mid-air, while the armored man plowed into the heavyset man with the force of a tank.
"Bastard! I'll crush you!"
True to his word, the armored man began to slam his fists down into the suprised fat man's face and chest, bones breaking and skin tearing under the assault. A hard tug on his cape was the only thing that stopped him. The girl, Flash, was motioning to the boy. Standing the armored man took the boy from her hands and looked him over. Growling he turned and spat on the half-dead man rolling in the dirt.
"You got off easy, if I ever see you again..."
Leaving the threat hanging he turned and ran through the gate, Flash following quickly, her white dress billowing behind her. A weak voice came from the boy in his arms.
"Hey, mister...wh-who are ya?"
Smirking, the armored man gave his answer.
"My name's Dekar, and she's Flash. How about you kid? What's your name?"
'Talking is better than him going into shock. Kid's tougher than he looks...'
A weak grin lit up the boy's face.
"My name's Ranma! I'm gonna be the best fighter in the world some day!"
Dekar chuckles, and speeds up.
"Well! We'd better get you patched up then!"
